My male crested seems fine but he is definitely losing weight. He's around 10 mos. I put him together with a female about the same size and age.Whenever I observe them he seems to be stalking her.The cage is 16" round X 32" high, plenty of hiding spaces, food dish however is on the floor.I'm just concern he might be distracted by her so much he''s not eating. He'll take baby food from my finger so I know he likes what I' offering.I haven't witnessed him eating crickets or mealworms,I know she'll take both.

I would seperate those two geckos ASAP. Im sure you wouldn't want your female breeding at such a young age and as a result becoming egg bound or developing MBD.

As for your male, place him in his seperate enclosure and see if he will begin eating again. One more thing, how much do your cresties weigh?

i agree with steve, seperate them immediatly. 10 months is too early for crested gecko females to be breeding. They should be at least 35 grams when you breed them or about 16 months old,.

Even though a male crestie has reproduction on his mind almost constantly, I don't think he'd voluntarily let himself starve to death for it. Have you had him checked for parasites? Is there a chance the female was getting all or most of the food, or even bullying him to the point where he didn't dare eat any?
I'll go along with the other replies to separate them and for the same reasons. If he's basically healthy but just thin, that should fix him up in a few weeks.

I'm sorry I miss led you about my female she is at least 16 mos.,I've had her over a year. She's not that much bigger in length then he is,that's why I house them together.I will be getting a scale to keep an eye on his weight.I'm pretty sure my female is more then 35 grams.I never really thought of her bullying him, they seem like their co-existing nicely. But I really never observe her doing much when I'm in the room, she's quite shy.I'll find her at the food bowl on the ground, but he never seems to venture down there.I am experimenting with an elevated bowl without any signs it's been touched.I'll separate them and try to fatten him up a bit. Thanks!
