Cresties must have ESP or something to that effect. I've tried for 2 days now to take pictures of one particular one that I've had an inquiry about, but he keeps evading my efforts like a pro. I've gotten pictures of a tail, a really great shot of a nostril, and a fantastic picture of a cresty taking a flying leap off my hand. It would have been great if it had been in focus, even though it wouldn't be good for showing off the gecko. For some reason this sucker is not getting photographed. All the others are sitting perfectly still, great poses, would make perfect pictures... and when I aim at them, they run off too. What's with these little rats right now??? How'd they learn ESP???
It got me thinking that maybe they learn to recognize the camera, and that it leads to them being followed around by that big predatorial looking thing from the sky? Could they perceive it as danger? Those not having the camera aimed at them probably took notice, froze in place to avoid detection and then run like crazy when this thing does come their way. When I reach into the enclosure with a food dish, they stay put, but when I reach in empty handed to remove something, spot clean or plant maintenance, they move away before I can get started doing anything, even if they're sleeping at the time.
Any guesses about whether or not this is all a coincidence, or whether it's all part of the survival instinct? Of course it could be just them having fun at my expense, I wouldn't put it past those silly-eyed clowns.
