hi everyone i'm new to the site and herps :D
What do you think a good first lizard would be?
I really like the bearded dragons and the blue tongue skink.
I am wanting a lizard that can just sit and relax on me and maybe nap when i am watching t.v or something.
i dont really want a type of gecko.
How much crickets would you have to feed a 5 month old bearded dragon a day?
How many for a blue tongue skink?
Thanks for help

A blue tongue will sit in your lap for awhile when you watch T.V and there better for handling then beardies b/c if they get spooked they can run very fast like beardies, so there won't be a problem with him getting away.

Blue tongues will eat veggies, cat food, and small peices of turkey, and beardies will just eat insects and a bit of veggies.

Blue tongues eat 60-70 % Veggies and Fruit and 40-30 % meat/insects

Beardies eat 80 % insects and 20 % Veggies.

I'd find a nice morph of a skink. But I want to get one myself LOL so I guess that's why!!

I'd say Blue Tongue as well, I have two beardies. Nothing wrong with them but their personalities are like 5 year old hyperactive children. The only time they're calm with me is if I'm bringing one to the vet and they're out of their home environment, then they cuddle.

I had the opportunity to handle a BTS and I loved him when I was working at the pet store. Very calm. Very hardy.
