hate to sound like a broken record but green conda it is.
though I kinda see some king cobra in the head and coloring. But I stick by conda.

I'm going to say.... something venomous (maybe a king cobra as daiyoukai said, since it gets big)... just to be different. It looks like it's got those 'angry eyebrows' that many hots seem to have... plus even with the water I think that the spots on a green anaconda would be more visible.
Yeah I agree with Heather, definitely not an anaconda. I'm terrible with IDing hots, but I will guess King Cobra as well.
blurry pic., my guess is a green anaconda too.

Anaconda????????
Not even a boid....
It's interesting that you say King Cobra, because (although it is not a KC) they resemble each other a bit. But no, this one is rear-fanged.
So? any other guess?
Cerberus rynchops, dog faced water snake.

I would say its a false water cobra

Just because it was in the water, doesn't mean it's a water species.

Is that a coachwip or racer?
Maybe a whipsnake?
NVM, those are not rear fanged..well some whipsnakes are...

Malpolon monspessulanus. That's right!!
I thought it would be interesting to post because it's actually a common snake around my area.
Biggest i've seen was 10 or 11 feet. There are plenty of reports on bigger ones.
Matt, the head shot gave it away, right?
Well, I knew from the first pic, but didn't post cause I was playing poker.. Your location kind of gave it away though.. LOL..

Whats the common name?

In english it would be something like *******-snake. that gives you an idea on what people think of this amazing reptile. They kill it whenever possible.
This snake can rise up from the ground and give you an angry stare wich lead to the popular belief that it could perform hypnotism and therefore should be killed (it surprises me that people still believe that TODAY).
Males grow larger. They get a raw, impressive look when full grown.

From the first picture I thought it was Natrix but the second shot ruled that out. I've never heard of Malpolon monspessulanus. Good quiz.
Edit: I guess the "Gets big" clue rules out my first guess.

This game was not fair, that pic was horrible in quality. But please post more snakes and allow us to guess. Just dont use anymore that look like they were taken with a dispossible camera. J/K

CamHanna,
When I saw the first picture, I too though it was a Natrix sp..

malpolon can be confused with Natrix. But they lack the neck band and have way less spots (or none at all). And, of course, they are bigger.
edit: after watching this last pic carefully, i must say it's a copperhead.

now your turn to pick a snake, you got the last ones right so it's only natural you start the next round. use the imageshack hosting that I postd at the bottom of the pics if you want. I just used google image search and rehosted them (the name of the snakes would have been in the links).
or not. it's a way to make the time pass.

Good Heather! Also known as the Java Wart snake (Acrochordus granulatus). It's a fully aquatic livebearer found in marine and brackish waters along Indonesia and Australia. Thought that would have stumped you guys because it is a relatively unknown species.
