I currently have 3 bearded dragons in my 125 gal tank. However im looking at selling my dragons and picking up another snake. I have a 5 foot ball python already, which i have had for about 5 years now. Im looking to get soemthing a bit bigger. I would love a burm but Im not sure if 125 would be sufficent. But a male mabey? Then a BCI crossed my mind.
Any Ideas?
Thanks in advance

I don't think it would be a good idea to jump from a ball python to a Burmese python.. plus i dont think a big male burm would fit in that size of tank (might be wrong..). i'd say a nice boa constrictor would be a good choice... bigger then a ball python.. but not too big, temperments are ok and there not too hard to take care of. so IMO i think you should go with a boa constrictor... if thats what you want.

What are the dimensions? You'll need at least 24" wide for a BCI, either male or female full grown. You also have to figure out how to insulate it for heat and humidity. You may be able to make it work if you can figure out the heat and humidity thing and if it is big enough but without the dimensions it is hard to tell.

You dont need at least 24". My male boa(5'6", 8 years old, got him a year and a half ago) is an adult and would fit comfortably in a cage that is 48"L x 18"W x 12"H. Most females dont get over 8'(BCI).

Edit: Make sure you have a good lid too. Also, what about a big breeding group of poison dart frogs? Or a pair of basilisks?

I totally agree with the burmese python, that was just an idea flicked out for disscussion, I think i may go with ither a male or female bci.
The demensions on the tank are
6' long 1.8' wide and 3' high
Sufficient for a Female bci?

Sounds great for a BCI, but I would be prepared to build a cage if it gets over 7' or when it curls up its filling the whole cage width.

Basilisks are a good idea. I loved mine. She lived to 14. Does it have to be a snake? If it was mine I would get a group of uros or ackies. who am I kidding if it held water I would get more turtles.....probably a different species of mud turtle, or musk, maybe a snapper or a ........................:D
Or woods....yeah do yourself a favor and get some wood turtles!

That is plenty for a BCI, male or female. It's unfortunate that it is 18" wide though, It would be better if it was 24" Wide and 5' Long. But I still think it would be fine.
Ont thing to keep in mind though is Boas require fairly high Humidity, so a tank with a screen top will not really work. Try to get a melamine or lexan top made for it.
Not to mention Boas ROCK!!

get a dwarf retic...that would be a perfect size for a full grown male..im getting a dwarf retic but im going to make the tank have more with and maybe a little taller!....Connor
