Use a container that is small enough to go in the tank and try to scoop him into it, if you're nervous to handle him. Something bout the size of a deli cup.
just set the container in the cage and then pick him up, that way if he freaks out he doesn't have far to go. hope this is of some help

Good to hear. just give him some time and he'll get use to being handled.
What I do with my smaller ones is I try not to pick them up by approaching from above. Put your hand in front of him, so he can see your hand first.

Yea thats what I do too, keep hands low to ground and try to slide a finger under belly. They susally grabbed my finger with front and back legs as you lift. Make sure to have your other hand ready incase it gets jumpy. Good advice is keep the gecko low to soft ground. I was fortunate with my little guys, they weren't too jumpy, but I tell you one thing, it scared the bejesus out of me when it hissed for the first time LOL

LOL!!! I'd hate to see what a large snake would scare out of you when it hissed at you, if a little leo scared the bejesus out of you!!!

LOL Yea I had a good laugh at myself too, but I never ever would have thought a leo could screach , let alone how loud it did at me LOL

I had one that was skittish when I got him, I just kept cupping him between both hands, let him calm down, and then petted him a little more. After a short while he got the idea.

The snake probably wouldn't surprise me, I know they can hiss/strike. But doesn't mean I would even think of putting my hands near it LOL I don't mind snakes, just don't feel like ever being bitten, so I won't own them.

LOL on the other hand I will be buying Tokay geckos soon LOL not much more dosile than a snake I'm betting!!

It's not at all unusual for young leos to act like that. They do usually calm down a lot when they're a bit older.

The important thing to do here is try not to stress the little guy out too much while letting him know you're not going to eat him :)

Hand feeding is a good way to build some trust, but keep in mind that Leos that are usually hand fed might not eat as well for a while if you eventually stop. I know most of my Leos are big fans of the tweezers! :)

ROTFLMAO Ah the good ole tweaser days!! I remember feeding my first 5 leos mealworms with tweasers, made for an enjoyable feeding experience. Its was fun seeing how many 1 would eat. Some of my little guys would eat a whopping 15 mealies in 1 sitting, at about 3-4 months age. 2 were just pigs so it was fun seeing which one would eat more each day LOL

Twiggy: It's just a matter of getting them to associate tweezers with food.

Mine are bright yellow as well and without fail all of my leos get excited when they see them :)

Ya that is true i tryed yesterday and it worked.... But he'll only let me near him so if my sister trys with the tweezers he runs. Thank you for the suggestion. :)

Yea, I had them since I got my baby geckos 3 years ago, and was feeding them mealworms. I have been looking for the tweasers for about 8 or 10 days now. The female has been really fussy since she laid eggs a little bit ago. At least I found exactly how to get her to eat. She ate about 8 or 9 kingworms, which is good. I'm gonna feed her everyday for a good week. Get her tummy and tail nice and fattened up!

According to this site:
http://www.gonebuggy.com/insects.html
Butterworms are excellent, but are costly. Low fat, high protein and calcium. If you can afford it, I would feed butter. But it's not cost effective for me to feed 10 geckos, 1 salamander and 1 frog butters LOL I'd be in the poor house so fast LOL
