A couple of days ago, I caught two of my older Jungle Carpet Pythons locked together in a close embrace.

The male was really interested in the whole procedure, as can be seen in the photo, whilst the female was seemingly totally disinterested in the whole affair, as she lay staring into space.

They remained locked up like this for over four hours.

The female is close to ten years old, is around 7ft in length, and quite a heavy snake.

The male is about eight years old, and is over 6 ft long but not quite as heavy as the female.

They are both nice looking snakes, extremely well mannered, easy to care for, and have retained their yellow hi-lights quite well over the years.

The last picture is of my 'combat' male. He is eight years old and also close to being a seven footer. He is not a bad looking snake in his own right.

I do not allow any actual combat. The males are only allowed to 'sniff' each other for a few minutes before I separate them. I do however use a freshly shed skin from my 'combat' male. This I place in the 'honeymoon suite' for an hour or so, hoping it will have the desired effect, by spurring the lucky male into action.

The third picture shows the unlucky suitor, in this JCP version of the eternal triangle. He is really looking quite down in the mouth.

I'm sorry. These are not meant to be thumb nail size photos. It sort of defeats the object of the post. I'm not sure what I did wrong.
