Man, I'm not even a lizard guy, but these dudes are the tops!!! They take crickets right from my hand!! Hands-down, the smartest reptile I've ever owned. I'm not kidding when I say its a bird with scales and a tail.

Not to worry though. A quick bake session on the 140F bask spot and he's almost as good as new in 5 minutes!!

Where did u get thos uge concret pieces .. It is really convinient for the animals .. offers hides and wartha at the same time .. i like it..

The concrete pieces are drainage tiles cut in half (with a concrete-cutter blade) and made into "Retes stacks". They work awesome, and MUCH better than plywood in my opinion!

Hey Jeff!
Nice pics. I hope you get those guys breeding soon. You have to keep that bloodline alive. They're the closest thing to being unrelated to most of the yellows in Canada. I almost purchased that group myself to get a "new" bloodline, so to speek. Keep us informed of your progress. I'll gladly take a few hatchlings off your hands when the time comes. Good luck!

Oh they are already mounting and everything. They LOVE the new soil they are on and are digging holes like mad. I'm keeping my fingures crossed. We also snagged 4 from JonK (Niagra Reptiles) so we have some different blood there too. The ones we got from Henry are super-red too. Obviously not true reds, but it almost seems like there may be some red blood in there.

The get along great! Smart example eh...hmm...let me see. Ok, you lift their water dish (making sure that they see you do this. Don't worry they won't run away because they are never scared). Then you make sure they see you put a cricket under the water dish. As soon as you close the sliding glass, they are over there digging a tunnel to the water dish to retrieve the cricket!!

They'll also inspect ANYTHING that's new in the cage, or anything you rearrange. If I change the water and put fresh stuff back in, they'll all be around the water like its a worshipping shrine or something. And they won't even take a drink!! Trust me, you could watch these guys for hours. Plus, they "come out" to be fed at the same time every day! You won't see them until about 1pm. Then, they are active for about an hour and then go hide until about 4:30pm. Then, they all come out again and roam around, checking things out, eat, chase each other, and then its back to their tunnels. Its amazing, man. I've owned a TON of different animals, but these guys are nothing short of fascinating!

Well thank God the States cannot export them ha ha!! They generally run $400-500 each up here.

Adult cage size should be a minimum of 4x2x2 for an adult pair. Don't keep these animals singly. They are gregarious by nature. They are birds man! Completely social. Not like any other reptile we've seen. We've always been taught not to put human qualities on our reptiles right? I mean, why on Earth would someone keep 2 snakes together (million reasons not to). but these guys are different. Way different. They seem to thrive on the social interaction they receive from other cagemates.
