Okay, here is my rant! If you bother to post an add, please feel free to update your post. If you have sold your items. Its a simple click. Edit your posts. If you REALLY REALLY NEED to sell some snakes, say for example, to pay some vet bills for your Husky. At the very least respond to e-mails offering to provide some $$$$.

Anyways I guess you all get my point.

"They're" out to get ya'.
While we're on this whole rant thing, the one thing that really bugs the pee outta me is in the Wanted classifieds, are the people who instead of typing what it is they want, they type "Wanted" as their thread header. WE KNOW YOU WANT SOMETHING, WHAT!!!!!!

Or the ones who put 'For Sale' in the For Sale classifieds.

And then there's the one ad I tried replying to a few years ago (not here on ssnakess, we're smarter than this guy was). It was by some mental giant who didn't have an email address in the ad, making you reply via the contanct link in the profile... but he had the email and PM options turned off .... HUH?? At least make sure you can be contacted somehow, and check to see if there are any replies.

I get annoyed with people who don't give an exact location in
thier ads. Then I waste my time contacting them to see where
there're located, info I could get at a glance.

I'm annoyed by the people who e-mail and ask where you're located rather than looking at the "Location" part of your profile at the top of the post.

Also, people who don't fill in the "Location" part of thier profile.

True True, it's nice to see people use the profile section properly. Although some of us need to be vague due to silly Bi-Laws  )

There should be price, location, contact info on all ad's or they should be deleted;) Only way people will learn!:D

You want something sold, post pictures, your location, and prices... no 'email me for pics and prices' business.

It's simple...

I agree Heather, ( email me for pic's and prices ) tells me that the seller is unsure of the what they are selling, price or other wise. Upfront information saves lots of time for each party.;)

I am one of those email for pics and prices people b/c I find that many people who click on ads are picture hounds and click on ads soley for pics, and then email me for more pics without actually wanting something.

My prices also change based on person asking and quantity wanted. Better deals for friends for instance.

I find I get more serious inquiries if I don't post a lot of pics and all the prices.

Maybe no location and prices are peeves to you, but people who inquire only to get pics or people who back out constantly without so much as a thank you, really pee me off.

Another peeve of mine. Easterners who post, but won't ship. I almost never see a Western add who won't ship. It has turned me off of purchasing from anyone east of Manitoba or even selling to anyone out there.

If you really want something, shipping shouldn't come into play. When looking at ads, keep in mind that shipping is always a factor and shop with that in mind.

That's what I'm talking about right there!
And while we're at it, the classifieds and the gallery are free people so stop complaining about how it's run. You don't like something that's free then you're a spoiled brat that should be sent to your room. Go to the library and complain to them and see how long it takes them to tare up your card.
Do, do, do. Give me, give me, give me. That's all we hear from some people around here.
Cheers,
Trevor

People get cold feet all the time, has nothing to do with price or location being posted. Most of us are trying to save money, so we
try to find ads within driving distance to save on shipping.

In any business you will have people who pee you off, that's part of doing business. I know some people who won't give an ad a second look if there's no location, so you risk losing potential customers.

Are you saying anyone who e-mails for pics and doesn't order something are just picture hounds? Haven't you ever looked around a store, asked a few questions, then left without buying
something?

I hate when I respond to someone's ad and then never hear from them. Even if you sell your item to the first person that responds, at least take the time to let other ppl know that it's no longer availible.

as far as the picture thing goes, some of us arent the best with photo editing and arent able to post to ssnakess gallery becasue it only allows 1 meg and most of my pics are wayy over a meg. now, dont get me wrong this isnt a knock on ssnakess for "only" giving us that much, as I appreciate the fact that they give us ANY space.
also, I do the email for pics thing so I can send CURRENT pics of the animals I hope to sell.

i agree with the location thing though. it seems more and more users have no location in their profile. personally I like to know if someone is in my area, that way I can meet new herpers. when I got into herps a few years ago I was the only "crazy" person I knew. a year later I found this site, and now another year later I know about 4 herpers I can chat with face to face.

oh, and I usually dont trust anyone between manitoba and quebec either lol.
seriously though, I see tons of ads from the west, mostly from calgary, edmonton and lower mainland bc that are pickup or delivery only. you seem unfairly biased/selective memory.

us hethon Ontarians dont need to ship because there is more than 60% of the country's population within a 3 hour drive. I offer to drive that distance most of the time, for a $15 delivery fee, which is less than half of the gas I use on a 6 hour rounds trip. I do it to meet people, i like driving and a few other reasons. I usually end up waiving the fee and making $25 or less on the animal I have just sold. I buy dinenr on the way home and chalk it up to a good day.

I dont mean to be harsh, but that seems to be the only thing people respond to on ssnakess these days. and that easterner comment was harsh.

with the no pics and price thing.. thats entirely fine with me... its the location factor in any situation.. some ppl ask ??? on where to get things and sure i can say "oh i found a good deal at canadian tire" and there from the usa.. doesnt help much.. i can see that ppl dont wanna put there exact location but even a provence or state... and with the states, id perfer the entire thing... i may be the only dummy on here but i dont know the short forms for most of the states. i dropped geography asap... lol..

other than that i kinda agree.. we should not be complaining about how things are run on here cause this is a free site and you can post adds free so.. but i do think there was a nicer way to say it ( dont take offence none was ment)..

but my other pet peeve is that you wouldnt be able to feed a thorny devil.. i love thoes things man..

Speaking of the "location" thing, I've been getting a lot of emails lately asking me if I have animals available for sale or if I know of any breeders. But none of these people tell me where they are located. (I usually find out they are in Europe or the Middle East.) So I guess my suggestion is, if you respond to an ad or you are just making an inquiry, let the person know where you are located. I, too, will not ship out of the area for less than $500 but that's because Pearson International is painful.

LOL Someone should sum this up and sticky it above the classifieds under "Rule for Posting Ads"

Actually alot of good rants, and here I was just mad because someone never edited a "For Sale Post" to say the snake was sold.
