I have a Jungle Carpet Python that is about and year and a half old. When I first got her, I fed her alot (this was in the summer). The last few months she hasnt really been interested in eating, and its taken many attempts. I fed her last night and she grabbed the mouse and constricted it, but then to my surprise didnt eat it. She let it fall from her coils and went up her tree. Now, I live in Canada and lately its been FREEZING up here. So Im attributing her not eating to that. I had a ball python that didnt eat all winter one year, but we all know they are finiky eaters. Does the same apply to JCPs? How long can she go without eating w/o there being a problem? Or is it just a matter of how healthy she looks?

I had a boa that was like that. In the summer months he would eat like a champ....very regularly! During the winter months, however, he would only eat intermittently despite the enclosure temps being the same through out the seasons. I never really figured out why it was, but like you I attributed it to seasonal variations. In my experience it is nothing to worry about and your JCP will be back to normal come spring. My boa, by the way, would go up to 3 months without eating and without there being too much of a problem.

The temperature in your Carpet cage shouldn't change just because its colder outside. If it does, then you have to re-think your caging scheme.

I haven't changed the temperature in the tank at all. The only time I turn it down is at night. But other than that I keep it at a constant temperature. I would even wanna turn the temp down cuz my dad keeps his house way too cold anyways.
