Hi everyone, well I am on a search for people in Canada who are keeping Prehensile tailed skinks, I know of a few people working with them but i know there must be many more people out there then the few who I know of. I am not just looking for breeders but anyone and everyone who has them, If any members keep them feel free to post even if you just know of people who have them it would help.

Thanks ,
Devon

I know a guy who keeps one, I think I might try to get it from him though. He keeps it in sand with no branches or anything. I think he thinks it is a desert species.....but I want one of these guys too :)

How long has he had it ? They will not last long under those conditions that is basically everything you can do wrong with them. I always hate to hear of them being housed alone.

I keep 1.2 of them right now. One of which is quite unique. They are amazing animals, but completely different to keep and care for then any other species I have ever dealt with.

Devon, sorry i didnt reply to your pm but I've been really busy with a new job and a few new herps, but if you have any questions I should be around more often now.

I currently have 1.2.3 (none of which are for sale:)

Ha ha, a nice group like that shouldn't be broken up, I am glad to see your not selling them. although if you ever do please let me know.

To be honest with you I'm not sure what PM your referring too, but it is possible I sent one a while ago that I don't remember.

Now just as a second question does anyone else in Canada have a PTS that looks a bit unique. I would really like to know if any else has one that is not the classic dark green. I am positive I have one female that is at least a different local then the other 2 possibly a separate subspecies. I would really like to know if anyone else has one like it.

Hmm the main difference is in color and scales, The color is completely different, and the scales also are different they have a much more rough shingly appearance. The difference in scales doesn't really show in the pics, but the color will. heres the few i have.

that pic is a bit blurry, but you might be able to make out the roughness on its back, Unlike the normal smooth skin of skinks,

This ones clear but to far away to show the roughness of scales clearly although it is somewhat visible. (the brown area around the shoulders is the last piece of a shed)

I would love to find a male like her to breed her with.

Make sure you give him a good slap.... :)

Hopefully he'll sell it to you for a good price.
If that doesn't work... send him here... we'll set him straight

Best of luck
