Just wondering if there are any newfoundlander's on the board??
I have the oppurtunity to take over an existing pet store in newfoundland near St.Johns. This is just the excuse I've been waiting for to finally move there. Wondering what you guys think of the pet trade there?? I have my own opinions about but I'd love to here some others.

Cheers
Matt

i was born in to, lived in newfoundland forjust over a year and moved back.. i take visits once in a while and the only thing ive been seeing and hearing is " all the young ppl are leaving straight from highschool" which i know about 20 ppl that did and a big majority of ppl in newfoundland arent there year round.. they come to t.o in the summer and work then go home in the fall...

PLUS any animal that ive seen in newfoundland was bought from "a friend of a friend" which for other than pet food and some random other things i dont think thered be much of a market....

on the other hand i doubt theres many pet stores on th island so you may be the only one around...

Actually...

In the St. John's area , Rain Forest Pets, there is one store the specializes in Herps, Parrots and other exotics, as well as a large Pets Unlimited that has herps ( though not where I would buy mine), the Pet Citys in the city have herps and exotics as well.

There is a pretty active herp community as well... as for the bought from a friend of a friend thats just not true at all, as well as several other potions of your post, myself and ALL my circle of friends work, live and play in Newfoundland 52 weeks of the year.

I don't know why you would doubt there were many petstores here, as you were here yourself, but on a quick scan of the phonebook sitting next to me here I count 60+ pet and pet related stores just in the St. John's area....

Perhaps you should check into some stuff before hand??

Matt... where and what were you planning on opening? Drop me a line at coryb@saltwaterreptiles.com, would love to hear about it
