I have a 10gal that im not usin and kind of want to setup something in the way of a feeder that would breed just for interests sake more than anything, i was thinking silkies because my leos love them but from what i can find i need to order special food, which is expensive, i dont need to do crix, thinking maybe mealies or roaches or somin, any ideas, i wantsomething where all cycles can live in the tank, not need to seperate each stage
thanks

you don't need a 10 gallon to raise silk worms. Any 1$ plastic container at the dollar store will do.

Yes the food is expensive, but if you search around, you can esaly make the food yourself. Check at food markets for mulbury leaves, and agar agar. Check on the internet, some people have posted their recipies.

What I would breed in a 10 gallon are roaches if they are legal in your area. The ones I prefer are the discoids, (they take longer to grow, but they can't climb glass and are quiet). You could give the baby roaches to your geckos, that's what we do.

We use some coconut bricks (the brick that you put in water) we let the substrat dry quite a lot cause mold will gros on all the food you put in there. The babies will hide in this stuff. We use nutri-blocs as food (rodent food) and water munchies as the water source (prevents water spills as it's a gel).

Roaches are breeding machines, so long as you can keep them contained. Mealies are fairly easy, but I find they do best with a rotation of several containers. I had very little production when I tried one container due to the worms eating the pupae and beetles.
