Been a while since I've posted any of my Sand Boas.
Here are my Aneries that I'm hoping will breed this year. The male is so much smaller. He stops eating for a few months in the winter.

Here are my Nuclear Sand Boas from Uncle Roy. The female is starting a shed, grrr. The male also stops eating in the winter.

Really cute Trevor. I am not a sand boa fan except aneries. Very nice. Let me know when you have babies, those might just have to be my starters in the sand boa world.

Thanks guys. What do you think Roy, does the male look big enough to get the job done?
Cheers,
Trevor

Yeah, I think so, barely. My albino male wasn't much bigger and he produced a perfect litter last year.I just measured him at 17 inches, but he must have been around 15 or 16 when he father the litter of hets last season..
So how long is your male?

BoidKeeper

He's between 17 and 17.5. I was surprised. I didn't expect him to be that long. I never weighed him though.
Thanks,
Trevor

I used to breed Kenyans. Kenyans, Pueblans, Mantellas, and Leopard Geckos from 1991 to 1995 man. That's how I bought all my snakes.

Really nice!

I sure wish my nuke was as big! What a pain, I finally just gave up on her and concentrated on my male. Can always get another nuke another day.

Love those aneries!

Wow, great looking boas you have there! Hey Boidkeeper and Stockwell can you please tell me what type of substrate do you use. I just got done dealing with impacted nostrils from sand with my KSB, so no more sand. In the meantime I'm using shredded newspaper, is this OK, can it cause paper cuts (eyes)? THANKS
Brad

I use Betta Chip and with all of my sand boas except for my aneries. They are on Aspen. I started using betta chip on Roy's advice.

Beta Chip IS aspen.

BoidKeeper

Yes it IS but it's not shreaded aspen which is normally what's understood when someone says aspen.

You guys are going to Jix me! There have been at least 6 people ask me to let them know when they are born. If anyone really wants to be contacted send me a PM and I'll write your name down and contact you when they are born before I advertise them.
Thanks for all the kind words,
Trevor

Are Sani chips similiar to Beta chips?

Stockwell
01-28-05, 04:18 PM
Beta chip is not aspen. It's:
Raw Material: Virgin, Debarked Maple, Beech, Birch or Poplar, Individually or Mixed
From the manufacturers website
http://www.nep-co.com
Sani chips is a similar product, but different maker. It is made from Aspen/Maple
See the website

Thanks for the clarification Roy,

Trevor,

Those little sand boas are looking great!!
Love them very much!!
Best of luck with breeding them this year.

As for the Alpha chips, if I am not mistaken, they are not aspen either. They're a bit of a mix with pine chips too. Not toally sure on those, but if I remember correctly they are not aspen.

There is an aspen chip down in the States that you can buy.
I know that me and Roy has tried bugging Rens Feed to get those in....lol~
Maybe if we try good enough, Rens might just get them in for us....

Trevor, click on the Nep-co link I provided above. It will tell you what all their products are.
Alpha chip is pure pine.
They make Aspen chip, but as Simon pointed out, its not available to us Southern Ontario guys.
I'd have to bring in an entire skid, and no thanks.

Damn, just saw Roy's post. Yeah, I'm not sure where you can get them in Ontario, but it IS the Centre of the Universe so........

Bosley's Pet Mart is the one that carries them.
