Someone that had a mite problem.... with a Chinchilla.. what he was told is that Brewers Yeast was a way to get ride of mites.. when the rats eat it.....it goes thou the rats and gives some sort of defence against mites...
COULD THIS BE TRUE ??

brewers yeast wouldn't hurt them. But I don't think it would keep away mites. Garlic helps prevent blood sucking parasites (mosquitoes, fleas, as it makes the blood taste foul.
Brewer's yeast is actually a common natural remedy for fleas in dogs (we used to use it years ago for ours, though have discontinued that practice), both by ingesting and I've actually read of people using the powdered form topically (rubbing it in to the coat and skin, though this wouldn't be the most practical method with rats I assume). I've never used garlic, but it is also supposed to work as well. They can be used in combination with eachother.

if you ever have fleas, drink a corona with garlic in it instead of a lime. ;) :flick:
