Just thought I'd post a picture of a crestie that hatched just before Christmas. I never could get a good picture earlier when he hatched, even though I did post one of the clutchmate at the time.

This is a long overdue picture of the second crestie which I managed to take today

And the clutchmate at hatching (same picture I posted 4 weeks ago)

This one is really spectacular now, even nicer than in the picture, but is also probably the most camera shy crestie I've ever had. As soon as the camera shows up, he's gone, hiding in the plants where I can never get a good picture. I was really lucky to get that one shot when he hatched. His colours intensified over the weeks to a velvety rusty orange red with bright tangerine fire markings. I'll keep trying to get a picture, maybe he'll settle down in a few weeks.

All told, this clutch ended up looking pretty good, even if I do say so myself :)

Killer fires..
The top one he has a very nice contrast. The bottom one has a couple dalmation with a much lighter colour. What do the parents look like?

I love them both equally!!! They are awesome. I am more partial to dark fire/harlequins but that second one really is striking and to think I live so close and you forgot to send them over for a birthday present. Have you ever heard "better late than never?" ;)

Just before the show????? I have the date at Feb 27. Unless my computer clock is wrong, it's still a few days more than 'just before' the show.... I think? :)

Actually, the red one (2nd picture) was already posted a month ago, just included here to show what the clutchmates look like.

If I ever get my new camera figured out, I'll post pictures of the 18 full time resident cresties I have right now.

Damnit Hilde...
Everyone has cool cresties but me. (whines)

I LOVE the first pic.
What morph would you say he is? It's been a while since i've looked into crestie morphology and i've recently found out there's a bunch that are related to 'fire'
Darkfire and Harlequin among them, so i'm a little lost ;)

Oh Matt, I'm not going to torture you and taunt you with meere pictures!! I'm much better at Crestie Torture than that.... I'm going to plunk the whole bunch of them in front of you in person at the show... .. I'm going to be there in the flesh and watch your self control crumble. Then I might even lie a bit and tell you sorry, but they're all spoken for. :p I'm going to enjoy it way more that way, beats online torture any day.

These are the parents. Mom is an orange dalmatian I hatched out about 5 years ago. Dad is a brown harlequin I got last year at the Newmarket show from Reptile Rascals.

He turns a velvety milk chocolate brown at night, lots of orangey markings.

She turns a deeper orange at night, this is her daytime resting colour.

Gotta luv polymorphism, don't ya?
