Pink?

My Columbian read tail boa (which I will have pics of soon) I noticed today has some nice pink stripes around his face behind the mouth, and a couple on his body in the mid section, is this some kind of morph? I'm new to Columbian Red Tails and boas in general but the other ones I've seen haven't had any pink coloration at all.

Completely normal, most do have pink some more than others but it can be rather tough to catch the pink in pictures.

Normals can have a whole lot of pink on them...so much that they look identical to a morph, but unless the traits are proven to be genetic, you have a normal.

Just a pretty normal thats all, even leopard geckos have all kinds of nice coloration when they're a normal pinks,purples,green :)

ok so let me get it straight. if i breed my boa and produce a pink offspring then its a morph.

Well hopefully this pink is genetic he's only 30 inches and the pink is insane, of course this could fade or brighten up with age, only time will tell. Just wondering at 30 inches roughly how old is he? I know in the first year they can get upwards of 3-4' or bigger.

Also does anyone know of any good BCI breeding links or books for BCI in general?

I would say he's roughly 3-6 months old going by size.
The Boa Constrictor Manual is a must have for any boa keeper. You can get it at pretty much any petstore that carries reptiles for 10-20 bucks.

Yeah I'm going to pick it up from Mike Greathouse here in a few days once I get my credit card statement, so I can get some Snow corns while I'm at it.

Disagreed. Many normals have pink, and can pass it on to their offspring. This does not qualify at it as a 'morph' however. Many people selectively breed their boas to acheive a certain look, be it a more intense pink, cleaner appearance, brighter tails, saddle shape, etc. They are still all normals nonetheless :cool:
