Here are some of the cages I have in my attic. The 2 larger ones are custom made and the smaller one is a boaphile 421D. It is under construction, I still have to wire, prime and plaster. Once its done I can finally have all my cages on one floor, and alot more room for racks when I need them.

Are those all your aquariums or do you have more? Hmmmmm, I like the idea of using the atttic..... Maybe I will do that :D

I have more cages and rubbermaids downstairs. The cage to the left is lit with rope light. I had some laying around when I build it so I used it up. I like them, they are waterproof and they give off a good amount of heat. Snakes sure do like to climb on them.

Take care.

No, my heat panels run hotter than the rope light. They are warm, not hot at all. She will lay on top of the lights for hours. The lights are coated with rubber/plastic, the bulbs are not exposed. I would reccomend these to people who are loooking for an easy way to light one or more cages. They also give your cage a 4-5 degree temp increase (results based on 4x2x2) when on. While not the most visually pleasing way of lighting, it is simple and effective.

My frog room is in our attic. The main issue is that I have to keep a close eye on temperatures. I have to heat it in the winter, and I have to run a window air conditioner in the spring and summer. Stll, with tinkering, I have found it to be perfect. My room temps are always in the 70's. I will post pics of my attic frog room in its own thread later today perhaps.

Doesn't it get too dusty to have cages exposed in an attic, I know mine would.

I could never do that here. Everything would fry during the summer. Except the African Varanids, they would probably love it! Besides my small attic is creepy! There is a trap door in the ceiling in a bathroom......not cool after you watch the Grudge! :D

Nice job and a good idea!

Yea, there is alot of dust in the attic. I got one of those air purifiers you see on TV and It's been doing a great job so far. In the summer it does get wickedly hot up there, but i'll have some a/c by then. Thanks.

Thats a great idea, but my attic is scary. I was just curious so I went up there today after I read this post. It was hard getting up because there is only one door and it is hidden in a closet. I had to stand on a chair to get up there. It was dusty, dark, and a lot warmer than the lower floors. lol. Great job though, as long as it works for you, stick with it.
