For anybody that replied to my thread, thanks. guess I should get a rubbermaid. Are there any REPTILE heating pads that you can buy?? I Do have rubber maid, but its like a tall one. I did try the rubbermaid out, but I couldnt get the heat over 80. I couldnt get the humidity high. For heating I was using a Cobra heat mat, But I returned it. At the time I was using those lil dial things to tell humidity and heat, but I heard they arent good. A week or so ago I went to a reptile show an Got a digital humidity/ temp thing, thats digital, from maxpet.com. I Decided I was going to go back to a tank (At the time I was setting up a rubbermaid but the project failed) and Here I am AGAIN with humidity problems. Im not sure why the humidity wasnt working well, but I couldnt get the heat good. so my REAL Q is,If I go to a local drugstore I should get a human heat pad? What kind and how do I get the temps axactly between 90-95? And The bedding I am CURRENTLY u7sing is aspen shavings. And For the rubbermaid, I would like to use the same bedding since I bought a HUUUGE bag and its 3 cubic square feet big...And I REALLY dont want to get rid of it.

No offense VI, but you're in no position to be giving advice.

There are a few suggestions that I would make. First, that storage container isn't flat on the bottom. Imagine you rubbing you belly on those protruding pieces all day, every day. Don't use it. Go out and pick up a PROPER rubbermaid, depending on the size of your ball, if your ball is under 600-700g I would recommend the Rubbermaid #2220 (16X11X6) and if you ball is larger, try the #2221 (23X16X6). As for heating, I would try either a reptile UTH (Zoo-Med, Exo-Terra, etc.) or heat tape (flexwatt). ONLY use any ANY heat source in conjunction with a dimmer, rheostat, or a proportional thermostat. Period. If you don't control the heat with one of these items, YOU WILL BURN YOUR BALL. I would stay away from human heating pads as they are not meant to be run for 24 hours straight, as the other products I mentioned are. Lastly, I would recommend you ditch the aspen shavings, regardless of the size of the bag, as it's probably causing your humidity and heat issues. Problem with loose substrate is that the temp on the TOP of it may show 90-95 (which is ideal for a ball) BUT balls like to burrow under loose substrate, where the temps are more like 110+ which WILL cause a burn and/or a cooked ball. I would try paper towels or newspaper for substrate.

...ok... At the time with the rubbermaid, I was using paper towels?? And I see from the other thread that it looks like some people were using aspen shavings in there rubbermaids.

Newspaper or paper towel substrates allow much easier control for husbandry than a loose substrate. The choice is yours however. Just my .02.

That's all fine and good VI but based on your experience, one sick ball, that you want to get rid of I think mykee is making a valid point. It's good that you want to contribute and help others but you've got a lot to learn about ball care before you can start handing out advice. It seems to me your trying to answer some of the same questions you've been asking yourself over the past couple of weeks.
No ofence intended here just some points you need to consider.
