i was wondering if cresties need a moist hide box. i know leos do. if they do can you give me some ideas of how to create one that will fit in with a realistic setup. i used peatmoss as a substrate and i have losts of little plants and vines. i just don't like to throw a plastic container in cause it will ruin the look.

thanks for the help

As long as you are spraying the substrate and the humidity is right in the entire tank, there is no need for a humid hide, unless you have egg laying females.

They might use one if you were to provide one. I have no idea how you would create one, If you want one desperately, I would go to the local petshop and see what they have. One more thing. if you are feeding live prey to to your crestie, substrate can become a choking hazard, usually in young cresties.

I use peat moss or bed-a-beast substrate for all the Rhacs. Keeping it slightly moist works well, never had a choking problem. Just make sure that there are absolutely no clumps or lumps which might be a problem if eaten.
If there are enough leaves they can hide under then you probably won't need a humid hide, but some cresties do seem to like a hiding area at floor level for general sleeping and while shedding. If you want something natural, try a piece of curved bark and lightly spray the substrate under it every few days.
Even though a hide isn't mandatory if they can hide in the leaves, I still make sure every enclosure has one. Even though they don't use it regularly, you'd be surprised how often they do use it if it's there.
