Egg!

Yeah yeah, I know... ANYONE can breed Leos.

But it's the first time for me :) Missed out on last season cause all my girls ended up being boys. hehe.

Anyhow, I have boys and girls now and breeding was done (Wow that's a little scary to see the first time!)

And today while I was doing my cage duties/feeding I found an egg in one of my girl's humid hides! Only one though but it appears she has another in there still so i'll have a look see tomorrow and see what's up.

Anyhow it's in the Incubator at 82 degrees and we'll see what happens in a couple of months!

Just wanted to share being a first time lizard daddy and all :)

Congratulations..... Here is a little saying for you though..... Dont count your chickens ummmm Leopard geckos before they hatch..... Usually a first time breeding female will lay a slug before she lays the fertile ones.... Here is the good news though.... In two to three weeks she will lay two more so keep an eye out...... Congrats! I had the same problem last year, all 3 were females but now I have a male and I got 2 eggs 2 weeks ago, but they were slugs. She is almost ready to lay agian though..got my fingers crossed!

My incubator is at 84.3.

Best of luck. My one female last year, laid her first clutch, that were slugs, but after that it was full throttle!:)

The one that laid isn't a first time breeder... just the first time for me :)

I've bred the two albino Hets and the male het to my female albino, as well as my female blizzard to my male blizzard Het. So I should have three producing females this year if all goes well. I'll keep everyone posted though

Just kidding, Congrats, I've had 7 eggs now from my prolific female the first 2 were infertiles one of the latest 3! was infertile. Should have some hatchling really soon! I'm excited about that. I keep my incubator at 80 even, all the temps are fine I just want mine to be some definate females :)

Yea I have 2 eggs in my incubator at 81°F to 82°F and I have to check all my encloseures tonight and make sure my 4 gravid females didn't lay eggs somewhere.

Make that eggs... She laid the second one yesterday (the 20th)

My understanding is it's odd for a Leo to lay two eggs 5 days apart. Can anyone think of a reason for this? I did a search on the forum but after reading 8 pages of results for "egg*" in the Leo forums I didn't find anything specific to a delay between eggs of the same clutch.

Unfortunately I don't think the second egg is any good, it was fairly caved in when I found it tonight as she had laid it outside of her humid hide on the paper towel that I use as substrate. I put it in the incubator anyhow just to see if it plumps back up as I know it was laid in the last 20 hours or so.

Might be a dud then, but hopefully it pulls though!! I just had 2 eggs I found not more than 20 minutes ago too!! :D

Nope it was a slug for sure... totally collapsed after i'd put it in the incubator and had already started to smell 'off' so I tossed it. First one didn't look so great when I found it but seems to be doing much better. I'll put up a pic in a few minutes once I get them resized

EDIT: Added pic. As you can see the second egg is obviously no good :) I have hopes for the first one though. BTW the heavy condensation you can see is on the outside of the egg container. I'm using the water filled cooler incubator method. So it's a lot wetter outside than in.
