Is that her up in the right hand corner?? If so, I'd say that enclosure might be abit large.............for now anyways.

It doesnt matter if the cage is big, but their is not even close to enough plants and hides. He is not going to feel secure like that. You need to either put him in a smaller tank or put A LOT more plants, leaves, vines, etc.

A couple more branches would be a good idea but I do like the setup.

That cage is WAAAY too big for that snake. ANd that screen top won't be helping you or that snake so its best to get rid of it.

what happend to all the plants? and that tank is too big for a little carpet python. put it in a 10-15 gal tank.

Nah, not even a tank. 18.1L Rubbermaid or even smaller. I'm keeping both of my '04's in shoebox size rubbermaids still.

Like i said " i have to get all the plants and stuff put in" I have to go buy them today, i just wanted to post a pic of the new cage.
And why is it a bad cage jeff? I can't just throw it out i paid a crap load of money for it, i think its a great cage and gives her tons of room, and yes it does need trees and such, that will be done today, and me personaly i like to give my snakes a big cage that looks real, like there home, instead of a little plastic thing. I'm not raging on anyone "different strokes for different folks"

I never said the cage was bad. I think you misinterpreted.

I said, the screen top is NOT good for keeping snakes, in this case your Jungle, and right NOW it is WAY too big for that snake. I'm sorry that you can't throw it out or whatever you'd do with it, but that won't change the facts that its not suitable for that snake at this point in time. I don't make the rules, I'm just passing them on to you.

Just wondering why is the screen top is bad,all the websites said they were good for ventilation, my temps are all good .We all make are cages to have different temps right,so the snake can go where its wants, and have proper heat, so why can't she have a big cage to go where she wants(once i have all the vines and hides) is it really all that bad to keep a snake in a big cage that has all the proper stuff, baby snakes in the wild tour around, there not confined to a little spot. and once again just asking i'm not being rude.

the screen top will letall the humidity out and the snake will scrub up his nose on it trying to find a week spot ,I have the same inclosure and cut a pice of plywood to make a top for mine .

my humidity is at 60% and when i spray it it goes up so thats fine, the only thing i ever read on other websites about keeping small snakes in bigger cages is they might not eat cause they feel not safe, mine at so i think its fine.

by the way shes reacted!!! she went straight up to the top found a perch been down to her water twice and goes straight back up!!!! sorry if it sounds like i was going against your word i've done a lot of research and most of it says if the snake is secure then the size shouldn't matter but thanks a lot for the input and concern

I like the cage too, but I really think it wise ya listen to what Jeff is telling ya... little jungles feel insecure in big open cages, even if she is eating right now, stress for a snake is NEVER a good thing.

I agree....I think that the snake should have a natural looking set up and not some shoe box sized rubermaid with newspaper as bedding...The snake deserves a nice set up!...connor

Just out of curiosity Favelle, how do you know your snakes like living in a rubbermaid bin?

Gimme a break...

jeff is right about the cage. while it may not be the most attractive cage, rubbermaids make the best housing for young carpets. they will usually not feel secure in a big glass cage and wont eat and could give you some other problems. that cage would work alot better after it is estabalished and on a good feeding schedule. probably once it is about a year or so old. your new carpet could also do very good in that cage, every snake is different, but the majority of hatchling carpets would not. jeff was just trying to give you some good advice so you can avoid problems later on. i have never talked to jeff before so im not doing this to stick up for him, but just letting you know that he is correct in what he is saying. i have run into feeding issues in the past just using a 10 gal aquarium and once i moved it into a smaller rubbermaid, never had a problem again. just something to think about.

I have absolutely no experience with Carpets, but I have worked with other snakes. And for all snakes, a huge cage as a baby is not always a good thing. Even if you don't like Rubbermaids, at least move it into a 10gallon for now. It will relieve a lot of stress it probably has now. And just because you already paid all that money on the cage, is no reason to keep the snake in an unsuitable set-up.

Isnt that telling you that maybe it is too cold or unsuitable around the bottom of the cage? If she only goes down for water and always stays at the top, maybe the top is the only part of the cage that is comfortable for him/her?

WAY TOO BIG!...try a rubbermaid...then when she grows into it ..then you should maybe transfer her into a 30 gallong..ythen gradually work your way up

A smaller cage would be more suitable. There are no spots for this snake to hide. A perch is not a hide. Yes, jungles do move around in the wild but they are very cautious and come out when nothing is around to bother them. Your carpet will never feel secure in a room with people when it has nowhere to hide. Small carpets are not good display animals despite your "research". Your little carpet may act normal and eat ok at first but a month from now that may change. It may do ok in your big cage but why would you want to take that chance. The only reasons I can think of would be to satisfy your own wants and desires not the snakes.

Jeff, some people just have to learn things on their own despite what others tell them. You did your best trying to help.

No offence...but I find that very hard to believe. I have my JCP in a 10 Gallon enclosure for the time being with a screen top...I have it covered 3/4 of the way and then a heat lamp on the uncovered part which is sitting over top of a very wide water dish. I have quite a bit of spagnum moss in the enclosure and I still have to mist 3-4 times a day to keep a humidity level of 70%. I know from experience the larger the encluse the harder it is to keep humid. Especially when it is an open screen top like you have. Try to cover it up all/most of the way and I am sure your snake will be a lot more happier. Adding a few hides would be recommended as well.
