If you had 5 grand to use on bps what morphs would you buy and why? I would buy a pastel, a 100% het for piebald female and a couple baby normal females and grow them up and breed to the pastel. But this is just what I would do.

hets for genetic stripe.

I really like xanthics and 5K could probably get a pair of hets.

Smart money though would probably buy 1.1 Pastels and some normal females (4 maybe). Then you could maybe make a living.

Here are the calculations:

Initial Expence
$1 500 - 1.0 Pastel
$2 500 - 0.1 Pastel
$ 600 - 0.4 Normals
$ 400 - What ever
------------------------
$5 000

Raise them up and breed (assuming 4 hatchlings/female)

Year One
Pastel x Pastel produces
0.0.1 Normal ($100)
0.0.2 Pastels ($2 000)
0.0.1 Super Pastel (Trade for Spider)

Pastel x Normal (x4)
4.4 Normals ($400 for males, Hold back Females)
4.4 Pastels ($4 000 for males, Hold back Females)

Year One gross = $6 500

Year Two
Pastel x Pastel produces
0.0.1 Normal ($100)
0.0.2 Pastels ($2 000)
0.0.1 Super Pastel ($8 500)

Pastel x Normal (x4)
4.4 Normals ($400 for males, Hold back Females)
4.4 Pastels ($4 000 for males, Hold back Females)

Year Two gross = $15 000

Year Three (Now your spider can breed hopefully)
Spider x Pastel produces
0.0.1 Normal ($100)
0.0.1 Spider ($6 000)
0.0.1 Pastel ($1 000)
0.0.1 Bumblebee ($20 000)

Spider x Normal(x4)
4.4 Normals ($400 for males, Hold back Females)
4.4 Spiders ($48 000)

Year Three gross = $75 500 (Now you're pro)

Year Four (Now your Year One females can breed hopefully)
Spider x Pastel produces (x4)
2.2 Normal ($200 for males, Hold back Females)
2.2 Spider ($24 000)
2.2 Pastel ($4 000)
2.2 Bumblebee ($80 000)

Spider x Normal(x4)
4.4 Normals ($400 for males, Hold back Females)
4.4 Spiders ($48 000)

Pastel x Normal(x4)
4.4 Normals ($400 for males, Hold back Females)
4.4 Pastel ($10 000)

Year Four gross = $167 000 (There's the Summer house)

First four years you make $264 000

Of course thing don't always run as smoothly as they do on paper but is seems like a good idea to me.

Pastel Male and Albino Male for sure...........then I'd go scrounge up another grand or so, and pick up 5 or 6 normal girls. Hopefully in at least two seasons time, you are producing enough pastels, and albino hets that you can turn your profits (keeping all female offspring) into a new project. Next step would be either Pieds ;), ghosts, or spiders :D.

Even just buying a Pastel male and spending the rest of the $5000 on mature or fat yearling normals girls (if you can find em), would be more than worth the investment within short time.

Even better!!! A trio consisting of 1.0 albino, and 0.2 hets!!!

I'd say $5000 if you spend it wisely, and have patience is all you need to get a good start.......I could be wrong though.

I'd get pair of pied hets for sure.
Cheers,

$5000?? More like a trio of Het Pieds!! :D

TWO pairs of het pieds for $5K in 2005.

I'd get some het clowns. I think a super pastel/clown is going to be the only snake that rivals a bumblebee in my head! :)

1/3 of a Spider! ;)

Is there a super pastel/clown yet?

I think I'd get a male congo jungle and a ton of normal females. Congo jungle x pastel looks fantastic, and although there aren't any yet, I think congo x spiders would look phenomenal.

I like cams idea. You would have some of the most extrordinary animals in 3 years and more in later to come years. Anyone know what a coral albino is worth?

Thanks

Not to be condescending...........but,

Don't you think you should learn how to take care of a $100 Normal before you even start thinking/worrying or even looking at any morphs?? I dunno.....maybe I'm just cranky. ;)

Man, I never said I was going to go buy 1.1 pastels now did I? Where would I get the money? Im just 14.... But maybe in 4 months.

Thanks

Cam; you have the right idea, even though you're being OVERLY optimistic with your timing and numbers.
Continueing on with your line of thought though, IF I were just starting out, I would buy 2.0 pastels ($3000) and 20 normal females ($2000) for a total of $5000.
In a year the males and say half of the females would be ready to breed. Of the 10 girls bred, say 6 would give you eggs, averaging 6 eggs per clutch for a total of 36 eggs.
Half of those would be normals (18-$2700) and half would be pastels (18) and half of those would be female (9-$22,500) and half male (9-$13,500). I wouldn't sell a single female from the first breeding year, but the normal males and 6 of the pastel males ($900+$9000= $9900) gross for your first breeding year.
At the end of the first year, you have:
9 female pastels ($22,500)
5 male pastels ($7500)
29 normal females ($4000-ish) for a total of $32,000-ish and have made almost $10,000.

The following year, you would have 20 normal breedable females, 5 pastel females, and 5 male pastels.
Pastel to pastel breedings (X5) would yield 3 clutches? a conservative ~20 eggs. 5 super pastels ($75,000)
10 pastels (5 female-$12,500) (5 male-$7,500).
From the 20 pastel to normal breedings, say 14 take (14X6 eggs=84 eggs) Of those 84, 41 pastels, 41 normals. Of the 41 pastels, 21 female ($52,500) and 20 male ($30,000)
Also you would have 20 normal females ($2000) and 20 normal males ($1000)
At the end of the third year, you would have produced a total of $180,500 worth of snakes.

I could continue on forever, but after 4 years you would have produced $230,000 worth of snakes. That's $57,500 a year. Not too shabby if everything ran textbook for 'ya.

Mykee,

I agree with what you said, but do note that fact that cam was working with clutches of 4 eggs(Which IMO is the best/safest number to work with with these guys and anything else is a bonus) and you were using average clutch sizes of 6 eggs. Yes you did say only 6 of the 10 females would take though, lol I just realized this while typing. I guess neither of you are far off. I like mykee's plan better though because you yeild more snakes and get to keep more(We NEED more! Lol).

Me, I would buy, 1.0 pastel baby male($1500), 1.1 het albino(adults - $1700), 9 Normal yearling females($1800 at $200ea.).

That would keep me happy as I would have many snakes, and a good balance aswell, IMO.

I like Mykee's plan aswell but after the second breeding i would buy a spider.

But at the moment I would most likely just get either a pair of het clowns or a trio of pieds. Either or would please me.

VI REPTILES:

Hmmmm that would be either pair Het Pied (my favs) or pair of Albinos (also favs).

Just gotta hope the tax man favors me this year :D

BOAS_N_PYTHONS did you mean 100% het albinos because I don't think you can get a pair of albino for 5k and if you know where please let me know :)

BornboreD
01-17-05, 01:07 AM
A pair of het albinos should only run ya around $1200. You might be able to talk someone lookin' to unload th elast of the Albinos into $5000 for a pair, but your probably lookin' somewhere closer to $7000.

MALAYSIANBLOODS:

Might be off a bit but buying a pair there might be some flexible pricing. :D

If they are out there and tax man favors me this year I will for sure look for them. Albinos and Pied are my favs, one day I must have them. :D

Sounds good I wounld not mind getting some pied or het pieds and I will hopefully have some albino's hatch out this season if everying works out. If I do who know maybe I will be lucky and get enough albino's and be able to buy some pieds this year. My fingers are crossed.

BornboreD
01-17-05, 01:07 PM
Well if you're hetxhet breeding works out and the odd gods are in your favor.........I'm sure 2 albinos would be enough to attain a Pied Male, lower grade of course but, that depends on preference.

I don't really care about how much white it has as long as it's a pied because I don't think that they have proven that high white pied produce high white pieds. If they did then my bad, but I don't think so.

VI Reptiles

Its just luck for a ball with 90% white to occur. Its all luck..... darn :D

You're right, I don't believe that has been proven either.

Much like the myth in "high contrast" albinos throwing only "high contrast" albinos, a 10% white pied could throw 90% white babies, or 10% white babies.

I agree. clowns are hands down my fav. BP morph right now. pastel/super pastel clowns will be crazy but IMO even just regular clowns are nicer than bumblebees. :D

Your insane!!! LOL

Clowns are pretty cool though, however they probably sit at about #8 on my Next Morph To Invest In list.

Same as the pinstripes you don't hear much, but in the last reptile magizine they showed all these different morphs that have been combined with the pinstripe. Some are just crazy.
