i currently have a blue night bulb made by exo terra and it sucks. the only reason i need a night bulb is because my room is in the basement and it can get a little cold and also i want to be able to see my little guy at night. does anyone know if any red bulb will do lets say from home depot. exo terra only makes red bulbs from 50 watts and up everything else is blue. so can i go buy a red bulb from home depot?

Exo terra Bulbs are great.. they are for night.. Don't use Home depot bulbs.. try to stay with the recommended pet store bulbs.. my guess is that U use the blue bulb for a loe gecko.. which is also a great bulb.. being in the basement yes its gets cold..and as long as u keep the heat up.. everything should be good.. I use the red nonturnal bulbs for my BP,'s it gives heat at night and isn't hard on there eyes.
The blue is a NIGHT GLO/MOON LIGHT its a great bulb.. good for the gecko's that are active at night.. that would be my choice.. and with the snake .. i'll stay with the red light...

Whenever you use a bulb make sure your gecko wont get fried. How cold is it in your basement?

it gets cold enough that i need a little bit a heat. i have the lamp suspended about a foot and a half about the tank and i only have a 40 watt bulb. don't worry the highest the tank goes up to is 80 so the little guy won't get fried
thanks

80 is pretty much the MAX temp you will want to keep your cresties at. Try for the 74 - 78 range.
