There are both. You can have a BCI or BCC from Columbia. Columbia is just the local, BCI or BCC is the species of snake. There are BCC in Columbia also.

I don't have pics of the two different snakes both from Columbia, but you can google search BCI and BCC and that will tell you the differences in species. The colors of different snakes of the same species vary depending on local. Chances are that if you bought a snake under the name Columbian "Red Tail" it is a BCI. Most pet stores and breeders will sell them as "red tails" to get more money for them. One way that isn't always accurate is to count saddles on the snake from the neck to the vent. More than 20 usually means BCI and under 20 usually means BCC, but of course there are several exceptions that method.

A full grown snake should have an enclosure at least 4x2.5x2 ft. And thats the least. I would say 5x3x2ft is perfect for a full grown BCI.

That sounds awsome. For big snakes like boas and pythons its mostly about having a lot of surface area. 6x2x2 sounds great. Do you have a Boa or python now or are you just planning on getting one?

Colombian, spelled with two o's no u's can be either BCI or BCC depending on what side of the Andees they come from. Colombian BCC are rare in the pet trade. The Boa Constrictor Manual has a chapter on Boa species and locals and how to tell BCC from BCI. It's a great book for anyone interested in Boas.
A 6x2x2 with a shelf is a great size for an adult Colombian Imperator or a BCC. I have my 6'+ female in a 5x2x18 but looking back I wish I had gone with a 6x2x2 with a shelf.

Colombian BCI are great snakes i would recommend them to anyone looking for good sized snake. They are pretty easy to care for and they have great temperments.

well as with any snake or reptile from a tropical or sub tropical local they require heat. Special lighting is not necessary, but they do need temps between 80-86 with a basking area. You can find out more by reading some caresheets.

boas need a large cage with a heat gradient from 80 to 95-100 degrees and a spot on the floor at about 95-100...it must be high enough to climb and also feel secure...several hide spots and CLEAN water.
most of all...be patient...let the snake settle in(at least 2wks) before handling or feeding. and wait at least 24 to 48 hrs after feed to handle. 2-3 times a week at 20-30min is more than enough...less is better.by the time it is grown you`ll have an animal that will love to be handled...
