Very good pics. The more knowledgable we are about what is going on inside our snakes the better we will be able to assist them in sickness.
I agree with casacrow, although it's a little hard to see a snake all cut open like that (I hope the snake's purpose was not solely to be dissected) the information value is very high. The more we know how our snakes are and function the better we can take care of them.
Thanks for the great pics. I have wanted to dissection one of my own snakes (after it has died of natural causes), but now I have no need. Thanks again!

I did not do the dissection or take the pictures on this boa.
All the credit goes to Brett Gardin for the dissection and pics.
Here is what Brett had to say about the boa.
This is a juvenile female columbian boa that I took in on rescue last year. She was bought by a teenage girl on impulse and her Dad would not let her bring her inside the house so she attempted to keep the snake in a rubbermaid tote inside her car in an unheated garage. By the time I got her she had a horrible RI. I did all I could but she died anyway. Anyway, that is the story on the snake. Maybe her death will help to educate others.
Thats horrible that the snake had to suffer like that, but the more her story is shared the more educated people will be about them and their needs.

Tom those are some awesome pics..... thanks for posting them here at ssnakes so the people that dont frequent www.redtailboa.net have the opportunity to learn from Julius's dissection project.
I hate when a snake suffers because the owner/caretaker won't take care of it. We'd find proper care for our snakes if we couldn't give them the proper home for them, even if it was temperary
Great learning experience, I had to save them to my hard drive for future use. Its sad to hear about the snakes unfortunate death but its great that we can all learn from it.

wow thats really cool graphic but really good info
Thanks for the pics. I am keeping a copy of them just in case I ever need them in the future (heaven forbid).
Such a sad story, but at least it wasn't all to waste. Great pics, very educational!
