View Full Version : Bamboo Anyone?
setting up a vivarium for cresties tonight, where do you guys put the bamboo? All my bamboo in my house is just in water -
I have a whole asian theme in my house so I wanted to do the vivarium in the same style, but i`m not sure how to set up the bamboo...any help appreciated
Please post any vivariums you have too thanx@!
If the bamboo you're using has roots, I would assume you could plant it into your substrate.. I use eco-earth substrate and plant my Pothos right down in there and haven't had any issues at all.. So really, I see no problem with planting your Bamboo this way..
Good luck and post some pics of your set up when you get it all done.!!

Yeah okay - I guess I`ll just try planting them if you say so - since you know everything Matt you`re so smart :medpoint:
HAHAHAAHAHA, you're a jerk!!
I know nothing, All I know is that my pothos will grow in dust if I let them, and I've heard the same said about Bamboo, so, I don't think you're going to have any issues..

If you planted bamboo in you viv it better be huge, because bamboo like never stops growing. I would say just put several bamboo pieces in for you cresties to climb on, I dont see any alternative. Good luck.

Bamboo that is for use as a house plant actually grows rather slowly in low light. I had a small piece of bamboo in a Mantella vivarum for a couple of years that was rooted within the gravel in the water feature... it put out a few shoots, but nothing more than a few inches. Not all bamboo grows as dramatically as the type that Pandas eat.
i have a few peices of bamboo in soil. some in cages, some not. the one in darker cages don't grow much. the one with more light definetly grow very fast. it also seems that the more moist the soil is the better they do. i keep taking more bamboo out of my tanks though because the animals keep pushing them down and trying to kill them.
