This thing seems to be just a regular blacklight... isn't it? I figured I'd try it out but it really doesn't light up that well.

Is it even worth keeping this? I'm thinking just return it and put the heat lamp back for daytime lighting, it would save me having to use a uv light instead for daytime lighting.

i use the red bulbs.. they work fine for me... but if your just planing on useing a white light bulb and are not looking for alot of heat just use a regular light bulb... cheaper... but you can also spend a little bit of money( prob just a trade for that black light) and get a low wattage heat light ( loose beam, you dont want a tight) that gives off the uv's... that way you get a little uv's on the little guy... i dont use any but i might add one soon... itll help against mbd... its really not needed but if your just gonna trade it in for a day bulb might as well get a good one...

the problem with the red bulbs is that they eat away all the humidity.

already have a low wattage heat light, it's tight beam though but for the size of the tank (20g), tight helps to keep one side hotter than the other.

the exo terra night bulbs are quite a bit darker than black lights. Go to your local home hardware they have green, red, yellow all kinds of colors in all kinds of wattages for 10 percent of the price.

for my 15 gal I use a 40W EXO-TERRA Day-Glo, and a 25W Night-Glo Blue light. I also have an EXO-TERRA Heat-Wave undertank heat pad too (the 10"x11") Keeps the temps good. I do have humid vermiculite hides in the tank tho, and a decent sized waterdish, so they have plenty to cool and humid spots to find and sleep in.

i had a 50w exoterra nightglo on my 20 gal, i found it to be to bright, i just a use a normal black light now since my night light is more for viewing than heating, if ur looking for night time heat maybe try a UTH?
