After building theArachno-Condo (http://www.ssnakess.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61325) I got ambitious and built a spider trap box.

When dealing with venomous snakes, trap boxes are a great thing. Basically a hide box that closes and traps the animal inside. I figured, why not for a spider too.

Quarter inch Sintra PVC on 3 sides with a 1/4" acrylic bottom. Those are 4 ultra-thin rare earth magnets mounted on the front.

The door is about 1/2" taller than the box for gripping and has corresponding magnets.

The door just pops on and is held in place withthe magnets.

On trapped spider. and acrylic on 2 sides offers visibility for inspection. This is great for cleaning and so forth. Particularly with those species knows for urticating hairs. This is Jessa's Fort Hall Baboon.

It does not have to be dangerous. It works great just to reduce stress and handling for the spiders. But definately a plus for aggressive specimens.

Those spiders have a palace. :) One of the taranutula's I've seen is Colbalt Blue's. Those are pretty sweet. But agressive little buggers! Their color makes up for it though!!

Tune in next week when I show how to build a land mine out of a paper plate, 3 rubber bands, 2 tampons, and a cup of coffee. :D
