has anyone ever had 2 adult females fight?? I just put 2 females that I've had for 2 years almost now back together. There was 3 females and 1 male. I've never had problems with my females fighting but as I was sitting here about 10 minutes ago a fight erupted for some reason. the slightly larger female that was already in the tank attacked the slightly smaller female. I have another female that is smaller than both of them in the tank too, but they never fight. I think I separated the other female from the group about 4-6 months ago, putting her in with another male. Now when I went to put her back again I had a fight on my hands. It did not happen immediately either. It's been a good hour since they were in the tank. Could they possibly be fighting over the humidity chamber for egg laying????

Should I risk puting them back together?? (the slightly smaller female has a small wound on her head right now...)

Sound like a territorial dispute to me.

What I would suggest is rearranging the cage a bit and then put everyone back in at the same time. It's likely that the bigger female just didn't like having to share her space with yet another cagemate.

How big is this cage anyhow? could be that there's too much gecko in too small a space.

It's a 27 gallon long, 36" long, 12" wide and 15" high.
There's 6 different hides at varying levels in the tank and roots that they coulduse as cover. Plenty of room for 4 geckos I thought.

one of them even sleeps at the top of the tank under the screen ontop of plants. She has a fetish for heights LOL I've had 3 in the tank for along time and never any problems. I put them together for the last hour or so in the feeding 15 gallon tank with no hides (so they have to see eachother) and nothing now....they've even licked at eachother (probably smellling or something and they basically completely ignored eachother like normal....

I removed the aggressore female out of the tank, and as luck would have it the male was feeling a bit....ahem..perky at that moment and attempted to mate. She was not receptive (most likely from the fighting) and thats when I put them together in the feeding tank. I wonder if the fact that both females have the scent of the male on them has resolved the issue, whatever it was...

i had this problem when i first got my two feamales, i got them from a friend who had a whole bunch and they came from two tanks but were housed together in the past at different times, after a couple hrs in the tank the larger one began attacking the smaller one, i switched the aggresor for one thathad been living with the smaller one and no more problems, so maybe just a territorial thing, this is the link to my post;

Well they seem to be fine now. I'm betting it was a despute over the Vermiculite chamber, so I have put a second one in ontop the first.

I checked both and neither has any wounds, so I think they're ok now (fingers crossed)

I think it was most likely fighting over dominance of the Vermiculite chamber. Both are nearly identical in size, but one is a little bit fatter (the aggressor)

they've all gone back to their normal hides from before, Daisy (largest) stays on the ground level hides, Dobbi (nearly same size) uses middle suspended tubes in plants along back wall and Hatch (smallest) is all over, but tends to stay up high, sometimes even ontop the highest plants against the screen. The male, Nova, sleeps all over the place, but is too big and heavy to get under the screen LOL

I guess only time will tell...

Well whatever hair my one gecko had up her butt, she's gotten over it. I just went to put them all in the feeding tank overnight and I found the 2 together sleeping. So I guess whatever it was, they've moved on. Just one big happy family again LOL
