View Full Version : Toronto show Nov. 17th
Hi,
I'm new to this board and just have a quick question. I'm going to the Toronto show (coming from New York) and was wondering if anyone could tell me if I would be able to buy a reptile and bring it back across the border? I've looked everywhere and can't find any hard and fast laws about this, although I'm sure it's probably regulated. Thanks for your help.

You need to check with USFW and US Customs for US regulations on this subject. If anything you buy is App. II, (boas, pythons, monitors, many tortoises and many others), you will need App. II export permits from Canada. These are not issued immediately, the process can take months.
You should be able to bring across something like a cornsnake or king snake (things native to the USA) but you should check with your governments dept (i think it's wildlife and fish, but don't quote me on that). smuggling them in wouldn't be such a hot idea, it's not worth going to jail for a few years.
Thanks for the help. I don't really plan on purchasing one yet (plan on getting a beardie) just thought I'd try to find out ahead of time in case I found one that i couldn't resist at the Toronto show.

Well worst case scenario.. what they dont know doesnt hurt them... heh heh if you want to risk it, just put him under the passanger seat up front while you cross... if you are clean cut, and non suspiciousyou shouldnt have any problems :P again i dont condone this method.. but it is a option for some! :D
