View Full Version : Smelling the roses
Just a neat pic of Oscar spending time with some of my favorite color roses. He/she is such a calm animal during the daytime.

Yes definitly does a total 180 at dawn and dusk. Literally within an hour at those times he/she goes from totally almost non-responsive, calm and basically o.k. to handle, to a total maniac waiting to murder me. It's crazy!
It's really some nuts Dr. Jeykl behaviour they have :D :D

I read on Greg's site, under his caresheet, that they do that. Its becuase they hunt at night and ONLY at night since they stay perched all day, so their hunting reflexes go through the roof :D
Marisa, do you feed yours at night or during the day? If you have done both, when do you think or find it is better?

Very nice Marisa. I love Biaks even with their attitudes.
"Its becuase they hunt at night and ONLY at night since they stay perched all day, so their hunting reflexes go through the roof "
This is not totally true. I can feed any of my chondros at any time of the day. Yes they are nocturnal, but they don't hunt only at night. They are ambush hunters, so whenever they sense a warm prey animal pass by them, they'll spring out. I feed frozen thawed, and I still get the same response. Sometimes you have to get their attention, but once they know what time it is, they spring into action.

Cool, so it really doesnt matter when you feed? I was just regurging info from greg's site.
Yeah I don't think it matters when you feed. I have fed this guy in day and like Brandon says, once he knows its food, he goes into eating mode. But generally I feed him at night because that's when I feed my other snakes.
In the day you can find Oscar curled up, and at night he is curled up except he has his head down in a ambush fashion.

That's a very nice Biak, Marisa!!
There are "really tame" GTP's around but even so, they aren't the best snake for handling.
Like I said, I can handle my guy in the day but by no means is he "trustworthy" if something catches his eye right he will bite in seconds. lol
