Or anyone else who has this.
Do you find that in any still standing water dish, once it is emptied, there is a pinkish film in the bowl after?
When we had our dog I noticed it in her water dish when I changed her water and this week in some of my herp dishes. I just got back from a four day snowboard trip and when I changed there water....there it was!!
Anyone know what it is, or had this happen to them?
I think it might be the something in the city water, who knows!
Thanks

About 5 years ago when I was living in Kimberley BC I had this problem with the water a few times. There is a large mine there so i always assumed it might have something to do with it. Needless to say I didn't drink from the taps too often. Sorry if this wasn't much help!

Pinkish? Nope.. never noticed that myself.

Though my BP's dish does tend to get some pretty hard hard water stains as it empties... being over the heat source and all... but a little vinegar and some time to soak every few weeks seems to take care of that nicely.

I'll keep an eye out for the film you're talking about but to the best of my knowledge i've never seen it.

Is it a hard mineral residue, or a slimy film...?

I never noticed a pink film when I was living in the city -- I used to get a hard white residue, which was cleaned with a little vinegar.

Since we've moved to a rural area with well-water now, I've to switch to bottled water...

Its more of a slim. When I wipe out the dish, the cloth is a slimy pink sometimes.....Maybe we need to fix our pipes or something??

I just typed "pink slime tap water" into google to see what it could be:

Nothing too serious, apparently... :)

It'ts not your water, it's bacteria from your snakes mouth! When your snake drinks from the water for the first time (clean water) the bacteria goes to the bottom and colonizes. it's like a big petri dish.
