What you think of the ethic behind asking fellow herpers if you could take your female over to them instead of spending extra cash in buying a pair? Is this bad ethic? This way it will be cheaper and you can introduce a breeding pool of different gene pools. Even produce a breeding pool with a couple mates and enjoy many more snakes. How would you repay the guy?

That's usually called a breeding loan....

From what I hear, some people usually split up the offspring that results from the mating of the snakes, or split the profits from selling them...sometimes it's not 50/50 though, depending on certain factors (whose snake is whose, who did the actual pairing up of the snakes, who incubated the eggs, etc).

The only concern I'd have is quarrantine. I'm cautious about introducing snakes into my collection, even after 6 months or so. Moving snakes between collections can be a recipe for disaster, if either population has any illness. If you know your friend very well and know the history of the snakes in their collection, then take the risk. I would be cautious about reintroducing the female snake back into my collection, in case she was exposed to anything during the breeding loan.

I agree with Heather that most people split offspring or at least give pick of the clutch/litter to the other party.
