I'm not one to go to garage sales, but for some reason I went to one today looking for nothing in particular.
I didn't find anything interesting so on my way out I asked if he had any used glass lying around. He said there was some in the garage but that I probably wouldn't have any use for it. I was stunned to see different sized pre-cut factory finished glass perfect for sliding glass door cages. He sold the lot to me for $5 and are as follows:

all are 1/4 inch tempered
2-24 inch x 22 inch
4- 25 inch x 22 inch
2 25 inch x 22 inch with metal handles
2- 22 inch x 16 inch with metal handles
3 22 inch x 16 inch

I paid $50 for custom ordered glass plus $5 for each metal handle about a month ago for my melamine cage. I now have enough glass to make about 10 cages fairly cheap.
Just wanted to share the experience. Next time your thinking of going to a garage sale, go!

SCORE! I was also talking to a guy at the bar last night, who works at a glass shop. He's hooking me up with literally hundreds of sheets of tempered glass, and all I have to do is pick up his bar tab for a night. It's all the 'missed cuts', where the cuts are off by like, 1/4".... NO big deal when building a cage, I just cut the tracks with a different measurement. Anyway, congrats on your treasure. :)

i'm in the construction industry and i called our glass supplier for a few pieces of 1/4" acrylic for some Rhac doors on the enclosures i am making and when she said no charge i almost tripled my order.. lol..
add that to having our wood shop dato the 1x2's for the acrylic for nothing helped too. :)
