View Full Version : Nikon coolpix users- macro light ring?
Has anyone tried the light ring? I have a coolpix 4300 and I LOVE the macro capabilities, but it does struggle in certain lighting. Any thoughts on whether or not the rings are worth the money?

It might work. I have never used them myself, but i know of someone who does. I found with his pictures there was always a light ring replection on his close up pictures. King of defeated the purpose of a light ring in my opinion. You are better to set up a flourescent overhead or some other type of natural lighting that will give you the amount of light you require.
Hope that helps.

This is the sort of effect Greg was referring to.. If you look closely at the image, you can see the reflection of the macro light in the drops of water...

it's an emerald.. :)
Thanks!
I had wondered about that reflection effect. Most of the macro pics I take are outside anyway, so I guess I'll hold onto my money for the time being.
Thanks again for the help!

You should not need the light ring outside at all so I would say to definitely save your money.
