Hey, Everyone
I was wondering what I should use for a strip light. Some say the Reptisun 5.0 some the 8.0
what do you say??
either one is good
just remember to change often
although the light still works, the UVB output is seriously reduced with time
it is debated how often these need to be replaced...anywhere from 3 months to a year
I replace mine every 6 months
Everyone I have spoken to suggests the Reptisun 5.0 or the Lumichrome 1XX. Every 6 months is the recommended time to replace them. You also want the dragon to be able to get within 12 inches of the light.
I use the Verilux. They have test results of the UV lasting 18 months. It works out to 3 zoo-med's of Hagen. They also hold their CRI a lot better then the others.

Do yourself and your beardie a favour and use the Lumichrome 1xx lights. They are by far the best UVB bulb on the market. Rated at 20,000 hrs. (2 yrs.) and lower wattage for power savings. They are also a T8 bulb and do not flicker.
The CRI index is 98 percent which is as close to natural sunlight as you are going to get for their UVB need.
THe light is a nice clean white and shows the animals at their best.
Did I mention that we sell these??.... :)
But really...they are the best. Ask Kevin Dunne of Dragons Den Herp in California.
We usually sell these when we attend the shows but we have them available for courier orders as well.
If interested, contact us for details.

Hi Tim...
the prices for the Lumichrome lights are as follows:
48" bulb - $ 43.99
36" bulb - $ 39.99
24" bulb - $ 35.99
18" bulb - $ 31.99
Please note that the 48" bulb is a standard T12 and will work with the regular Home Depot flourescent fixture.
The 36", 24" and 18" bulbs are T8 and require a T8 fixture (electronic ballasts)
The standard aquarium hood fixtures 24", and 18" are T8 and can be used with the Lumichrome bulbs.
Watch it if you plan on using 36" bulbs as there are not a lot of 36" T8 fixtures around.
We have our flourescent fixtures screwed directly to the inside back of the enclosure..... we find it works well......we also ran some wire through the back of the enclosure and around the fixture to hold in place.
All prices are FOB our location, shipping as required to be paid by the purchaser.
Thanks
