Well, last night was not a good night... If anyone remembers, I found a cat on our property and have been housing it for the last few weeks, until we find a new owner (hopefully tonight: people stopping over!)
Anyways, last night I came home to find that this cat had torn through the screen on one of my crestie enclosures containing the only one that I was leaning for sure towards being a female...

I quickly checked the enclosure to search for her, but all that I found was her tail...

...it had cat hair on it. I was FURIOUS! I've read about horror stories with cats and herps, and thought that it was always a keepers fault (which it was, I guess...) but this cat had always been good around the bins, and had never caused too much alarm.
I was certain that my gecko had met it's doom when I couldn't find it anywhere near where I had kept the enclosures. I searched high and low, unfortunately, with no such luck of finding the small crestie.
At the same time, my friend Mike was over, and it was probably lucky for that cat that he was there, as I was VERY ANGRY!!! I locked the cat in the bathroom while continuing to search for the crested gecko. Still no luck.
I gave up hope and told Mike that I'd rather not hang out anymore for the evening, so he began to get his shoes on and head for the door, I didn't even show him out, instead I sulked back in my bedroom. As I heard Mike open the door, he played an EVIL trick on me, and said, "Hey, your lizard!" as he stepped into the cold hallway.
This pissed me off, and instead of arguing with him back and forth, or calling him out, I stormed out there to point out and prove that he was messing with me and should stop... I pointed into the hall, and my finger was directly aimed at the crestie! I jumped!
I quickly scooped up the small lizard and took her into the warm apartment! After looking her over, I could find no damage other than where she had dropped her tail!

This was a very lucky day for me and my little crestie! I still have no clue how it got outside of the apartment, but perhaps that kept the cat from getting to her! I guess that what I'm trying to say with this post is that certain animals are predators, and even if they seem trustworthy, don't forget that they are still animals with instincts... If you love your herps, or any of your other animals, be sure to be cautious!
Also, I have never seen many detailed pics of a crestie fresh from shedding its tail, so thought that these may also be pictures of interest for many people...
