I am going to be building a sweater box rack system and am looking to have it as light as possible. Does anyone have any light weight rack systems plans they could recommend. The only ones I found on the internet cost 29.99 for the cd on how to make it. I plan to be using a lid on system with underbelly head prefered.

Thanks, Darren.

If weight is a concern i'd suggest getting one of those modular wire shelf sets from Home Depot. Much lighter than Melamine but they'll be more expensive.

Don't bother with a 30 dollar CD that tells you how to build what's basically a shelving unit. Spend the money on materials instead :)

Melamine is what most people make their racks out of

1) because it's cheap

2) it's relatively durable and water resistant.

But be warned... it's REALLY heavy.

Thats the whole idea about it. Money is not as much of an issue as weight. Its going to be moved from time time as new carpeting and paint are expected this spring.
