Well here is what’s done so far :)

All we have left is to get the glass for the jungle carpet tank (which right now is WAY to big for him so we decided not to build the boa tank on top yet, and house him in the jcp tank for now)

So the rack is done, heat tape wired and all with a good dimmer that seems to be working great as of now (using Lisa's How To rheostat thread, thanks!!) and the jcp tank, or for now it will be the boa tank is done but just waiting for glass which should be coming in tomorrow.

Here are some pics while in the making

The finished rack section, without the iron on white strips.

Then we started the jcp tank. So the non complicated square box was built.

Finished tank facing upward.

You can see on the bottom are 3 black Rubbermaid’s. There was my ball python in there just for a couple minutes that I put there while my dad went to get something. He walks back in and opens up the Rubbermaid....I’ve never seen a full grown man yell like that..LOL :D

Here you can see the tank more clearly

Here is the rack with everything in it..

Two of my 3 bp's..male on left, female on right
http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/1953construct1-med.jpg

And here is what it looks like so far. We also decided to make the boa tank in a month like I said, but also not to make it span across the rack and jcp tank, but just basically build one more jcp tank to sit on top of it. So ill have a 4x2x2 for him which I think is enough, personally.

http://www.ssnakess.com/photopost/data/500/1953construct5-med.jpg

The tanks on the right that are empty are going to storage. The tank in the middle, not vertical, is the jcp. Ill keep him in there for a little while longer, then upgrade him to a 33 aquarium, and then into his final home.

Then the cham tank and the cresty tank, the little one, are staying there pretty much.

I posted this quick because I’m going to eat, so sorry for any spelling mistakes, errors, etc. :D

Thanks!!!!!

Yea, hes TOTALLY not a herp guy and is scared %*&$less of them lol.

You should work at a carnival guessing ages lol. Im 17, turning 18 pretty soon. I am very much like my father, in that we both like hands on things. Even though he hates reptiles, he enjoys building stuff, so it worked out for both of us :D

Thanks for the replies everyone!

Nice adam! Thanks for sharing!

Well, my parents are ok with the reptiles, they support my interest, but dont "like" them or anything. However, I can hand my dad a snake without saying a word and he will just be like "what?!?!?!?!" and I can walk off to do something quickly. Neither are scared of them either.

Its good cause my dad is a hands on kind of guy aswell, and so am I. My buddy and I built a HUGE cage for our Bloods, I'll have to post a pic. Mostly on our own my dad just gave me a couple tips I asked for, and he also lets us use some of his tool, though I have most of my own.

Looks like you have a good sized room too! Im getting half of my basement as my room, and thats where the herps are stayin.

Anyways, im just rambling, lol.

Very nice stuff man, and good job, thanks for sharing!

Hes going to be in that for a little while, imo. The tank is 1.8x1.8x3.2 feet. Not big enough? He is still small..well not small..but not full grown thats forsure.

Nice, how big was she last time you weighed her? oh,I might be getting a little spider as well as the pastel(drooollll!!!)

No way!!!!!!

I havnt weighed her on anything that id believe lol...is there a digiscale upstairs? Im assuming, since my male is well over 1000, that she is somewhere around that as well. Shes like an inch shorter then him, but eats every week, so her fatness is higher. My males thin..not in a bad way though :D

BARTMAN:

Do you know how many leopards were killed to make that chair in that room?

LOL...............joking.

Great job indeed, take your dad out for a burger or an ice cream or a beer (if you can drink at 15 - 16) :D he did a great job.

Lol thanks tony.

Mark, I found those rubbermaids at a Canadian Tire near my house. They didnt have ANY clear, but only the clearblack shown. They are not totally black but I like them so much better then the clear. Not for me, but I think it makes the animals feel even more secure. They had all the common sizes you'd normally find, and are almost out. Maybe I should clear em out ;)

When I have time later tonight, ill try and post some pics of the rheostat, heat tape, and my idea :D

Bartman, your room reminds me of mine when I was a teenager. My grandparents got me into reptiles about 36 years ago. I probably didn't need any pushing but they did introduce me to herps by bringing me a toad home from up north. I then started keeping red eared sliders, newts, frogs and when my father bought me an Iguana from Towers dept. store for $4.00 I thought I was a hardcore herper of 8 yrs of age. I now have my own home, kids, wife and a dedicated reptile room, life is sweet; Happy New Year! Paul.

We have a digi scale in the rodent room at work,if you want to use that. I really hate that rodent room,it takes me like 4 hours to clean it out every week!!

Here is my rheostat, that has been working GREAT for day 1 :) Im getting a steady 89-91 depending on my room temp. It was made from a bunch of spare parts from my garage as you can see lol..i didnt have a good cover for the dimmer part..but its all good :)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v281/BartmanReptiles/rheo111.jpg

Here is the back of the rack. I covered the back with silver insulator so that the heat would travel into the rack, instead of losing so much heat out the back. This would also require the thermostat to be lower and probably have less probability of it burning the wood or leaving yellow marks.

Thanks everyone!

Lioness, read these forums, search their archives. There is a wealth of knowledge on these boards, as well as many helpful links are often found within threads as well. Most questions that you most likely have will most certainly be answered. :)
