I'm going to my 8th ever polar bear swim in about 15 minutes. Anyone else go to these things? This year I'm doing the one at Elk lake in Victoria.First time went was when i was 3 and my dad dunked me into English bay in Vancouver. I'm not the typical polar swimmer I actually go swimming instead of running in and out. I usually go in for between 5-10 minutes but one year I went in for 15 minutes. Great fun after the first couple minutes untill you get out.

You still have open water out there? lol

There's no way we could do that out here in Manitoba. Everything has 1-2 feet of ice on it.

Have fun. Although, that doesn't sound like much fun to me. lol

I just drove past Elk Lake and it looks cooooooooooooooooold!!! Not to mention we had more snow last night than we've had in the last 8 years combined! I don't even remember what snow looked like!

That water would freeze your nads off. Just insane! ;)

Actually it was not that bad. Since I had been standing outside with only a bathing suit on for 15 minutes before I went in. I haven't downloaded the pics of it yet but I'll show some photos later. The water actually was warmer than usual this year

No offense, but if I was paid $100 I still wouldn't go out there to freeze my toosh off :D :D

The closest thing to a polar bear swim for me was initiation at work where they threw me in a huge kettle filled with water and ice cubes lol.

Swimming in march is the closest I get to polar bear swimming and I haven't done that in 5-6 years. But all the power to ya.

No chance..the closest I get to a polar bear swim is when someone flushes the toilet while I am in the shower

Ha ha I'll never understand why people live on the prairies by choice. 70% of my family is in the prairies. Idiots.

LOL, j/k. ;)

I did the polar bear swim in New Jersey, it was something like 60* outside. I could have done the backstroke in it all day long. the water was like 48*

Jeff, your right we are all insane! LOL, I think the years of cold weather has numbed the brain cells!! MIL and SIL came out from Mission and Nanaimo for x-mas this year, they said never again!! LOL, next x-mas we are going to visit them. I keep thinking though we should just all meet up in Mexico for a family x-mas next year!

JEFF:

I stay in Manitoba for our great crazy winter weather (-19 C to -35 C and more) but even more for our summer infested mosquitoes months.

NOTE: for Americans this is what it looks like in Fahrenheit.

(-19 C to -35 C and more)

(-2.2 F to -31 F and colderrrrrrrrrrrr)

LOL.....:D
