Hello,

I've had my carpet python for a month. She ate a f/t hopper the day after I got her and eight days after that she ate another. She shed last Sunday and she hasn't eat again. It has now been 15 days. I even tried a live hopper but she wasn't interested. Both times she ate I put the f/t hopper in her cage and left her overnight and in the morning it was gone and she had a lump in her belly. Am I being to impatient? The last time I tried to feed her I put her in a small feeding container with the F/T hopper and left her overnight. Any suggestions?

BTW Her cage temps range from 75 to 85 and the humidity is 60 to 70%.

Thanks

Hmmm.....that's weird. That thing should be eating every 4 days man! Maybe its not secure enough? Too cold at night? Another shed cycle (common in young-ish snakes)? Too hot? Too dry and the snake realizes/thinks its time to conserve and not to eat?

Beats me.

When you say f/t hopper, are you referring to mice or rats?
Are you completely thawing and warming the prey to simulate the temps of a live animal?

The temps that you mentioned, are the hot temps the ambient temps or are they the temps directly under the heat lamp?

Are you allowing for night time temp drops?

Have you provided plenty of places to hide as well as a shelf or branch for it to climb up when it wants to bask?

Sorry for all the questions.... more info was needed to possibly help you.

She last saturday. I put her in a small plastic deli cup with her food basically on top of her. Then I put the deli cup back in her cage. I checked on her in the morning and it was gone. I think she might have a stressfull shed, it was her first shed since I bought her.
