View Full Version : Camera advice
Anybody .......
We recently got a new dig cam and have been using it for about 3/4 weeks now and it has been fine (using a 256 mb mem. card) and just today the camera gave a message saying "unsupported card", does anybody have a clue why this would happen when it's already taken over 100 pics on the same card. Any advice/help would be muchly appreciated.
Thanks, Alllison

What digi cam do you have? What make? Model?
Also, what make is your memory card?

It's a HP M307, Photosmart and the mem card is a San Disk 256, in manual it says that it is most compatible or recommended, and it did work for about three weeks, I'm at a loss, because without the card it still takes pics???Thanks

That's very weird how your camera would have an "unsupported card" error message even after taking over 100 pics with it. If your using a Secure Digital card, make sure it is pushed in all the way and that it's not in the lock position.
If that doesn't work, I dont' know what else it could be other than it could be fried. If you can, try another memory card and see if that works.
I broke my digi camera recently by accidently pasting a file on the memory card when I was on my computer. After deleting the file, my camera no longer worked.

I got a similar message a few years ago on my Olympus camera. I had deleted the pictures and then formatted the card using the SanDisk software. The camera didn't seem to recognize the card when I tried it. All I did to solve the problem was to use the camera to format the card again i.e. run the setup (format) mode or whatever your camera calls it.

Take the card out and reinsert it. If that does not change anything, format it with the camera as DragnDrop suggested. If it still does not work, try to return it and get a new one.
I've looked through the manual and can't find anything about reformatting the card. How would I go about doing this?
Thanks

What camera do you have? Most that I have seen have some way to format the card.

Check the play back menu. There should be an option to format the card.
No card format option.

This excerpt from a website might help you find how to format the card in the camera.
Photosmart M307: HP's Newest is Put to the Test (http://www.anandtech.com/printarticle.aspx?i=2286)
To delete an image, you should press the Menu/OK button. After selecting Delete from the menu, the camera offers 4 additional options: Cancel, This Image, All Images on Card, or Format Card. If you do not have a flash card installed, the word "Card" will be replaced with "Memory" in those options.
So, try the delete command, then see if the 'format card' will do the trick for you.
Thanks everyone, figured out the format card thing, but still says unsupported card, must be some kind of defect. Back to the store I guess.
