I've been reading some post on this but haven't got a clear answer yet.
My belly heat on the hot side inside the hide is kept between 90-95 degrees. The "air temp" is around 80-83 on the hot side. (Cool side temps are ok 80-85). Should the air temp also be 90-95 or is this just for the belly heat temp??

Can your BP hover or fly? Mine always seem to be on the ground. ;) :D

Your setup sounds fine to me. :)

Well sometimes he thinks he can when he stretches out really far!! :D
The only reason I was wondering about this is someone mentioned that the amount of their body that is contacting the "hot area" is smaller that the rest of their body and might not be enough to keep them warm since the cool air will also be arond them. It's kind of like if it's cold outside and you're standing next to a fire the part of your body facing the fire is warm but the rest of you is still cold. The other thing mentioned is the air they breathe should be the correct temp ie 90-95

The air they breathe should NOT be 90-95!!!!!!!!!!! That would be a 90-95 ambient, and that will kill your snake. For sure.

So the 80 ambient temp on the hot side is ok, thanks Jeff!!

Sounds about right. Ball Pythons heat up by conduction anyways, so an 80F ambient should b fine.

Lucky, that "someone" that you spoke to to get all that "advice"; don't talk to them anymore, they're dumb. In order for you to get an ambient air temp. or 90-95 over your hot spot, you would have to somehow maintain a hot spot of over 110. Not a good idea.

mykee you were the person that told me this!! Just kidding ;D when I got home after work tonight the hot spot was 93 but the air temp was 81 on the hot side and 78 on the cool side. Is that too low? I try to not let the air temp drop below 80 anywhere in the enclosure.
