So today I was just cleaning out the cal king's (stripe) tank and the little sucker bit me. It was funny because he didnt strike or anything, he just casually opened his mouth and grabbed my finger from the side. So he obviously couldnt eat it but the guy was SO determined that he wouldnt let go for like 15 minutes! I tried dunking him in water because I was getting bored waiting for him to let go but that didnt work, so he ended up just letting go for no apparent reason :D Just thought Id share my little experience.

LOL, do you know if you had any rodent or one of your other snakes smell on your hands?

haha you might have smelled like rat, but that's not always needed when cal kings want to bite.

A couple times they have simply grabbed our fingers totally calm for no reason. They are such brats!

They definitely are brats. My hatchling from this year is a very deliberate guy, slow moving and calm all the time, and I always have the feeling he is sizing up my fingers for his next meal when I am holding him.

I am sure every cal king owner here can relate to your story!!

OMG, cal kings are totally full of personality. I never know what is going on in their little heads. So spastic and unpredictable at times. Course some of them are more placid and over weight than some corns!

Haha, my mexican black did that once. I was like, "Hmm...oh well" and grabbed a book waiting for him to let go. Didn't hurt or anything, he just decided to latch on for a bit. Kings are definately unique! lmao
