Here's the deal. After sucessfully keeping my pair for a while I decided it would be interesting to try and breed them for fun. She is 4 years old.

After tons of feedback, countless hours of reading and web searching ect. I kind of hit a brick wall.

I'm aware of the approx breeding wieght of a female should be around 1500g. When I started cycling them it was October 2nd because of a very cool summer and both of them shutting down for me very early into the dry season.

Anyway when I started to cycle them, the girl was 1687g's-Oct 3rd.

Nov. 7th 1600g's.
Shed-Dec 2nd
Dec. 20th 1487g's

Feeding strike is Oct 7th-Dec 20th.

My question is betweem Nov 7th-Dec 20th, while introducing and seperating there was a definate wieght loss between those dates.

I was told a wieght loss like that was not uncommon if they are breeding. However now at 1487g's and still not feeding , what is the best course of action? Wait til she eats for me or is it still ok to introduce her? I mean that feeding strike could last til mid January. Is the old saying, better to be safe then sorry, means I should cut the breeding project now and wait til next year or is it normal?

Any input or advice is welcomed. If the records of the male is required, I'll post them as well. He's actually very large for a male, lol.

Thanks guys.

You say she is four years old?

At that age I would think she should weigh more than even 2000 grams! Some individuals in all species do not get as big as others though so maybe she is a smaller specific snake.

Anyways sorry I can't answer your question better, I just wanted to toss that idea out.

Thanks Marissa.
That is a good point I overlooked.

Oh ya, I forgot to mention. She may be on the small side because she was a stubborn eater. And it was a bit difficult to switch her over. I didn't raise her from a baby. :(

If she is under 1500 and 4 years old, I would wait a year or so, get some food into her, and give it a shot if she's packed it on. I'm guessing that at over 4 feet, she's just plain old too thin.
