View Full Version : Email not accepting emails
Hi. This is the qmail-send program at ssnakess.com.
I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following
addresses.
This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out.
support@ssnakess.com:
This address no longer accepts mail.
I was requesting advertising rates :)
As I told you before, there is NO advertising rates and they won't be available again for a while. That e-mail account is down right now, something happened when the servers changed and email accounts went down. I know my ssnakess.com email account also had issues..

Hello, i was asking about advertising not hosting. No need to be childish about my beleifs... ;) :P
Yes, your beliefs.... I was actually pointing out the mis-spelling of 'Regards'.. But, whatever.. :D Aren't PETA against the owning of Pets???
Oh, and whether you were asking about the advertising or hosting, they were all taken off the 'market'.. So, to answer BOTH of your questions... NO
Sorrym, my mistake...Didnt see the mistake, thanks for pointing out the typo. :)

Yes, Matt, PETA's mission statement is the total liberation of all animals. They are VERY against pet ownership of any kind...It's hilarious how many people support things when they don't even know what they stand for...
Hello, ive been a member of PETA for a very long time, they are not in any way against keeping pets, when they are kept properly....
Lets just drop the fighting when it does nothing....
HeatherRose

If 'total animal liberation' means 'keeping pets is okay', I'll eat my hat...
Do some research.
Your more than welcome to do the research. PETA greatly supports animal adoption, they are how ever against "purcasing" pets as objects. This issue has been brought up before...Ill be happy to find you the proof, even though i dont see the point in this discussion.
No one's fighting.. Just trying to learn. I was just asking a question, I was always under the asumption that they weren't against the keeping of pets and believe I have never read nor seen anything both from them and the opposition that would state otherwise.
-Matt
No offence to either of you at all :) Im just providing information on the myths of PETA. Here is the proof if your still intrested:

I have done the reasearch...lots of it in fact. Anything I say about them is factual, and you can find more information about it on the following sites (which aren't even those silly 'anti peta/peta sucks' sites, but legit sites)
http://www.consumerfreedom.com/article_detail.cfm/article/134
http://www.activistcash.com/organization_blackeye.cfm/oid/21
"Pet ownership is an absolutely abysmal situation brought about
by human manipulation." -- Ingrid Newkirk, national director,
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PeTA), Just Like Us?
Toward a Nation of Animal Rights" (symposium), Harper's, August
1988, p. 50.
Complete animal liberation means no pets, no seeing eye dogs, no police dogs, no zoos, no circuses, no pets, did I say no pets?
-edit- The page you provided dispelling peta 'myths' is from Peta itself!
I'm just trying to learn too, no fighting...but I wouldn't trust what the organization says, when hundreds is not thousands of other places, organizations and sites can say and prove otherwise...
:)
No worries, those sites are not PETA, i wouldnt trust a site when there onviously against PETA. I just sent an email to info@peta.org for more information about this, lol.

Sorry Rikki, but I have to agree with Heather. You can't make a very convincing arguement when the only facts you have to offer are from PETA themselves. Just my opinion, I'll butt out now.
Regan when asked which he would save, a dog or a baby, if a boat capsized in the ocean: "If it were a ******** baby and a bright dog, I'd save the dog."
-Tom Regan, Q&A session following a speech, University of Wisconsin-Madison, October 27, 1989.
"In a perfect world, animals would be free to live their lives to the fullest: raising their young, enjoying their native environments, and following their natural instincts. However, domesticated dogs and cats cannot survive "free" in our concrete jungles, so we must take as good care of them as possible. People with the time, money, love, and patience to make a lifetime commitment to an animal can make an enormous difference by adopting from shelters or rescuing animals from a perilous life on the street. But it is also important to stop manufacturing "pets," thereby perpetuating a class of animals forced to rely on humans to survive."
-PETA pamphlet, Companion Animals: Pets or Prisoners?
You better not let your PETA friends see you post pics of your furry animals Rikki!!!
Yup, you're backing a winner..

Hello, thank you for contacting People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Lindy has responded to your email:
Hello Rikki,
Thank you for your email. PETA's mission is for complete animal liberation. Animals are not ours to eat, wear, or test upon. Animals have been domesticated into breeds simply to please humans. As animals have already been domesticated and would not know how to survice on there own it is our responsibility to protect the animals of the planet. Animals should not be sold and treated as a "nothing", animals need our help as said above. PETA supports animal adoption and rescue, though we are greatly against the general pet trade. If you have any more questions please feel free to reply and you will be assisted as soon as possible.
Thank You,
Lindy Hailes

Who are you talking about in this instance? I don't see anyone acting 'childish'..

PETA supports animal adoption and rescue, though we are greatly against the general pet ttrade. .
I guess I don't have to eat my hat now... ;) Which is good, because I don't really have a hat...
Point is...they are against us breeding and buying more herps, right? It affects us all, doesn't it?
We would be better off rescueing, though you really dont see as much of a over population of reptiles as you would with cats or dogs.
I do rescue all of my herps though ;)
Talking about PETA and other organizations like them is VERY important IMHO on websites like this. Why? Because they are one type of people who will attempt to remove our rights to keep snakes at one time or another. There are other types and groups who do this as well, but PETA and organizations like it are a threat to the hobby.
While this particular thread might not have been the place to do it, here we are. LOL :D
Anyways, it is VERY clear from the email posted that PETA is against the reptile trade.
Anyone who wants to remove my rights is someone I am against. No one is attacking your beliefs Rikki but the problem is why participate with PETA if you also keep pets? You are on a reptile website, one that PETA would NOT agree with. So I think the members here do not understand where you are coming from.

Good on you :)
Have you ever looked into what PETA does with the animals dropped off at their 'rescue'?
In 1999, PETA euthanized 1,325 of the 2,103 animals it took. PETA claimed that euthanizing the cats was much kinder than leaving them in the streets. PETA made the statement that a quick painless death is much better than a slow painful one. However, when hunters or farmers talk of quick painless ways of killing animals, PETA calls them barbarians and claim no animal death is justified
and...
A former PETA employee spoke of one particular incident that burned into her mind forever: A teary-eyed man showed up at PETA headquarters one day with his beloved pet rabbit. The man had grown old and sick and was no longer able to care properly for his friend. He supplied a cage, bed, toys, and even vet records for this pet. He was assured by PETA workers that they would take "good care" of his rabbit and find him a home. The man left distraught but no doubt believing that his friend would be able to live out the rest of his life in a loving, compassionate home...PETA workers carried him to the 'death house' immediately and ended his life!
and so on, and so on...
That was a childish remark :P..... You are calling someone "dumb" because they do not have the same beleifs as you, i dont think thats right....
I do not beleive PETA would be completly agains sSnakeSs as alot of us here are rescuers, PETA mainly focuses on the anit pet trade of cats and dogs.
I really do not want to make any one mad. I love this place and I love all of you guys even though we may have different beleifs and I hope you feel the same. :)
What I do not understand is how you got so much pull with PETA?? I just sent an email to them at the address you provided.. Unlike yourself, I did not get such a quick response from anyone.. Instead, I got this..

No one called anyone dumb...we were just curious as to why someone owns animals if you if they truly understand the organizations motives... that's all :) Or, what Marisa said :P
No one called you dumb. Please re-read if you truely felt that way. I was actually trying to make you feel like you weren't being attacked, but participating in a conversation about a controversial organization while at the same time being a member of a website they are theoretically totally against.
My advice to you, or anyone, is simple investigate and charity, or group you want to affiliate yourself with. Sometimes what seems like a healthy, kind hearted, smart idea can be taken to extremes by certain groups which twist the truth of things to achieve their own personal goals.
Anyways Rikki, I am very sure you don't want to offend anyone and I am sure no one here wants to offend you. It's just difficult to understand how someone can support a group that wants to remove reptiles from the pet trade entirely.
Anyways Merry Christmas. lol :D

I have heard the reports of the events above, and they truley shocked me. Ive been a member f PETA simply as its the only large Animal Rights society that I know. Recently i have sent them emails complaining about such events with no responses. Im not saying i support all of petas actions, im just simply against the murder of creatures who did not diserve to die.... PETA is a unique organization, and can make vegetarians look bad at times... Im simply not against them or completly for them either.....
Also as said before, my animals are all rescues :)

Rikki is correct.
That avatar is free for anyone to use.

I have had peta members accost my wife and children at a horse show because they did not believe in what we did. I do not like my 12-year-old daughter being call a sadist because she loves her horse and like to ride. I do not believe you can put your name behind part of this group without being soiled by the other parts it is all one animal.

Rikki, while there are people on this site that are rescuers and others that are not, take a look at the majority of threads on this site. We are all here to learn, teach and share info on the proper care of our pets!
All of us here take the upmost care in the health and safekeeping of our reptiles/amphibians and other critters that come into our homes.
Dont worry, I do not in any way doubt that you do, I know the majority of people here take care of there herps with all of there might.... :)

LOL. That makes no sense. You're saying that PETA doesn't know it's position on pets better than an outside source? That's like telling me that YOU know my favourite colour/food/etc. better than I do.
It does make sense. That's the whole reason people have "outside investigations"
When one side wants to you believe nothing but what they have to say and agree with nothing but their own personal beliefs, they simple give no information or proof unless it helps with their own goals. It happens all the time which is why you must do research on top of what someone is telling you, be it PETA or some joe on the net talking about snake hubandry.
