I now use paper towel for my leopard geckos rather then sand , I love it b/c you can actually see the leopards colour instead of him/her being dusty.

Sure makes my patternless look alot yellower :)

Another reason to use paper towels, other than the compaction concerns

And cleanup is sooo much easier with paper towel :)
Less chances of sand getting all over the room (and into the carpet) making mom/wife/housekeeper happier and less likely to object to the geckos.
And paper towel is much lighter than sand.... soooooooo.... you can probably find even more places to put a lighter tank for more leos!!!!

And sand doesn't get into the waterdish this way either :)
