I'm curious to see if some of you have reptile's tatoo!!! I wait for your pics!!!!:)

10-30-02, 03:08 PM
Wow!!! Sounds like a killer tattoo there Kolleen! That will take quite a few hours of work there, are you sure it's going to be done in one day??? Yes, it will hurt, but it will sooooo be worth it! Can't wait to see the pics! :)

lol kolleen, sweet :) you'll be alright :) cept its gonna hurt like a mutha when you get to the tender spots like the inside part of your elbow joint! ouchies! upper arm and outside forearm you should be ok :) show us some pics for sure! :)

10-30-02, 04:00 PM
Sweetness Kolleen! I hope to get a tattoo when I get older, and It will probably be my BP Leo, or my Boa Cha Cha, or my BP Tia, heck, maybe all of them together!! :D

Pixie
10-30-02, 04:25 PM
Jeff, with my tat it wasn't the inside of the elbow that hurt but more the area that doesn't have much cusioning, in my case the shoulder. At the top, right on the bone, now that's murder!!! I would guess it would be the same as the elbow and wrist, yikes! I don't know if I'd be able to do it again, I still remember the pain and it's been 7 years! The inside of the arm right below the armpit is also pretty tough... Was only a partial half sleeve and it took 15 hours!

Dunner
10-30-02, 04:47 PM
yeah, when i was getting my full lower leg, the part that hurt the most was my ankle, kneecap, and definatly my shin, that just felt weird, it's going to be a killer tat though kolleen. i don't have any tattoo's of my herps, but i have one of my pit bulls tattooed on the back of my shoulder, when i find someone to take the pic for me i'll put it up, thats going to be a long peice kolleen, the longest session i had was 7 and half hours, and trust me no matter where it was on my body, tender part, cushioning or not, it starts to kill after 5 hours, and bleed, anyways, good luck

Matt_K
10-30-02, 05:36 PM
I'll agree with the ankle and the shin hurting.. When i got my Dragon on my leg done, those are the only two spots that hurt. As for the wrist, suprisingly enough there was very little pain. Then again, it all depends on how much you can handle..

Dunner: Do you have any other pics of your Dragon? I'd really like to see the whole thing, it looks nice as he!! from what i can see.

Dunner
10-30-02, 07:34 PM
yeah my that pic was just taken with my web cam, i have to get some batteries for my web cam then i'll get you a pic for sure. it's basically just an oriential mural, but i like it, some koi, the dragon, a few symbols in there, hey it was free! can't beat that eh

Matt_K
10-30-02, 09:57 PM
Nope, you can't beat that at all.!!!. What symbols do you have???

Heres what I have...
A Ball Python that starts on my foot and wraps around my ancle and lower leg almost to my knee. Jason H is doing it...he has already put over 30 hours into it and will hopefully finish it this tuesday.
A big green day gecko on the top of my foot. By Marco Beige in Vernon BC.
On my right shoulder I have a dream catcher with a sunset in the center...it has feathers that hang down to my elbow and a black horse charging through it. Jason H also did this one...I LOVE it!!
A lions head on my right shoulder blade, By Genisis design in Vernon BC.

I would have to say that my foot and shin hurt me the most...ouch! But...I still dont think I'm finished yet! LOL

Ohhhh NO!! Im not crazy enough to have it done in one day. I can only handle 3 hours under the needle at a time(yes Im a wussy!) but the outline will be done the 5th and my guy put me on an hourly rate so I can have some done each month. This will take me at least 8 mos to complete.
But the cool thing is...my artist have a ton of herp knowledge and his dad breeds colubrids and the reason I chose his is because he knew what kind of snake she was within 2 seconds of seeing her pic, and believe me, tiger retics are not common in Utah. But I think he is more excited than me...LOL

I CANT WAIT!!!

Pixie
11-02-02, 05:30 AM
Ok phew!!! Long sessions are pretty tough to handle, I was wondering how much you'd be doing at once and 3 hour sessions are perfect, I don't think it's wussy at all!!! I did the mistake of doing 6 hour sessions for my tribal and it was murder. My arm was swollen to my wrist, I looked like I had a Popeye arm it was so big and it hurt for a week non-stop. None of my other tats hurt nearly as much as that.

Good luck on getting your tat done, it sounds like it'll be AMAZING! :)

I have done all of mine finnished in one sitting, except the snake around my lower leg. My upper arm took around 6 hours and was not as bad as I thought it was going to be.
The sittings for my snake around my leg have been murder! lol...each of the sittings have been well over 6 hours a time....I think once he worked for 10 hours. Talk about delerious after that one! I think he was too!
I am wondering how long I am going to have to sit on Tuesday???? How ever long it takes to get it finnished I guess ...to be honest ...Im not really looking forward to it! LOL

Jason H ...if you are reading this.. :P :P :P LOL

Hmm, thats a hard one. I've got one full sleeve and one not yet complete, most of my chest and shoulders, a few large single tatts on my legs and my feet done (no herps though, mostly skulls and flames). I've also got the words Hell Awaits in solid black, old english style writing across my lower stomach and this was bad. The chest is bad to (the whole lot hurts, no areas to move to for releif) and the inside of the arms heading up to the armpit does gets a bit tender. People spin out over my feet but these hurt the least.

On another note shade work hurts more than solid color or outline. They run a near dry needle over the same spot again and again untill the desired shade is reached... Ouch! You really have to bite your tongue in order not to tell them to lay off and move elswhere for a while.

Wow I feel like a real pussy. I only ever sit for 3hrs and once I even bought a tube of emla cream to kill the pain (works well for an hour or so). I don't even know a tattoist that would sit for 10hrs, thats just crazy masochist ****.

How about these traditional "coming into manhood" tatts that the islanders get. Full body tatts applied with a rake and hammer type tool. They sit all day and then come back the next day and so on untill complete. They risk dying during these awesome tatts.

IMHO the worst place to get a tat is anywhere that bends. During the healing proccess it seems to fade more at a quicker rate.

My only herp tattoo is of a cobra coiled around 2 blue roses above my breast (I was only 16 otherwise it would have been ON my breast) Other than that I have a humming bird with tail that wraps around most of my leg and a tribal on my right side of my neck that looks like either 2 swans with heads bowed together or a tribal heart.....

also the wonderful webmaster here has another website for tatts and piercings the website is .......

Worst place (for a guy anyway) is, well I think you can guess it. No I am not talking from experience LOL. I had Ryan (SCALES ZOO) I think it was send me a pic of a dragon tattoo once. It literally covered buddys whole package (not Ryans BTW or was it Ryan LOL) anyhow any guy that ever seen it was cringing totally. Now that guy was a sucker for punishment & thats without even considering the huge ring in the end OUCH! To each their own I guess. The artist had some definite skill to work on that ah canvas & it is a true work of art (well yes & no!) LOL Mark
P.S. I have a firey hand of doom on my ankle & the Reaper Head to go with it gets outlined on Monday. WOO HOO!

I have a snake that is wrapped around a sword, I got that a long time ago before i was even into snakes. I also have a buddy that has salamander crawling up the side of his bald head. He has a few tats and he say's that was by far the worst, pain wise. I have pics of him getting it done and the final product, I'll post them as soon as i can find and scan them.

This is my snake arm...well...the beginning of it....i had 3/4 of the arm designed all at once......so far....i have only the outline done...and there is much shading and colour to be added...the outline took about 3 hours...before the sleeve got started I had the ball put on my elbow which sort of inspired me to continue with the snake theme...or was it the rattler?...don't remember... Eventually the other tattoos on that arm are going to blend in as well....there will be a tomb in the background of the snake sleeve so I might get some kind of stone work to fill in the blanks in the other areas that aren't a part of the sleeve on that arm. I was really worried about the elbow being a tough spot but it was nothing....what hurt was the back of the arm. I think its a good idea to get large tats done bit by bit because no matter how tough you are your body may still react to the trauma.....when I was in New Orleans I went nuts and got a bunch of tattoos done in one sitting....i was so burned out afterwards and my lymph nodes swelled and KILLED!!! I think I slept for 14 hours that night, which really dipped into my drink fest!lol Anyhow, enough rambling here's my arm..
