She just shed and looks so nice!
I figured I'd share. She has a ibt of a differnt look compared to most of our others. She's going to be part of a small project we hope to get going to try to produce reduced banding and reduced black pigment. This girl is meeting the hopes of our new project already. I guess it's time to raise the bar a bit now. Hopefully some of the other juvies we are raisng will turn out of similar caliber and perhaps someday breed with her.
Anyway, hope ya like!

Awesome -- she's a beauty Yasser! I'd love to have a girl just like her... almost prefer that to the super light ones. Very nice :)

What sort of size is she. Im trying to get a rough estimate as to how old mine is, and it looks about the same size as yours??

Adam, this girl is about 3.5 feet and about 650 grams.
She's a lean girl though. But things can vary greatly as far as growth rate. We held back four babies from a clutch we got last year...one is 375, two around 650 and one around 850 grams. That's quite the range. So it would be difficult to tell what the age of yours is.

She's realy looking great, yasser. Now for a dumb question...are west papuans smaller than IJ's? My male IJ is roughly the same age and is almost a foot longer. I was wondering if the west papuans ran a little smaller than IJ's or if the the one in your picture was just a late bloomer.

Actually Irian Jayas are West Papuans.
The country known as Irian Jaya no longer exists. The same land area is know known as West Papua as of late 2001.
The one pictured is about average in growth rate but it all depends on what you as a keeper think is a good feeding regime. We vary our feeding schedule greatly for all of our snakes. We also cool younger animals in the winter even though they are not breedable yet. So that can cut into their true growth potential.

Well I told you it was a stupid question, geography was never my strong suit.

I don't feed mine too heavily, I'm in no hurry for him to grow out. I had actually worried that he was small for his age but I guess that is one anxiety that I can put to rest. Thanks for not rubbing too hard on me over that west papua thing and best of luck in your breeding projects, I hope to see lots of nice pics in the future.

No worries...most folks don't know that Irian Jaya no longer exists. Either that or they choose to not use the correct name.
Thanks for the kind regards...I hope a couple of special West Papuan breedings work out.
